Lovely!!! :)

Thanks Feathers..and I'd be super happy if I hadn't found what looks like a crack or flaw within the barrel resin. Having to go back to the store tomorrow (that'll be my 3rd visit to them!!).

Going to spend the rest of today sulking!

Finally jumping on the MB bandwagon. Hope that the new Johannes Brahms Fountain Pen in F I just ordered is as good as I have heard. This will be my first MB FP. I've owned a BP about 15 years ago (in my BP days), and wished I still had it. I have been drooling over this pen for some time, and finally pulled the trigger. Now for the agonizing wait for MB to ship it out, and "precious" to arrive at my doorstep.

The middle guy is my newest one. It's a model 44 with a fine steel nib. I have wanted one of these last-ditch wartime pens for almost two years now and finally tracked one down. It's surprisingly large and writes really nice. Compared alongside my 234 1/2 PL and my new-ish 146.

Picked this up at the DC Fountain Pen Show. 1970's 146. Any idea on how I might be able to pin the exact year?

A nice and interesting pen, i have never heard of a 44 before, so i gather it´s an unusual pen.

Check this thread out, maybe you can ask one of the experts directly. However, I think exact dating is not possible. Serial numbers weren't added until later. Five year windows...or even decades might be the most pinned down you can get. Nice pen btw.

Picked up one of my all time favorites a while ago! The Year of the Golden Dragon 2000. I also purchased the Qing Dynasty 2002 to go along with this one :) I will upload photos of the Qing when it arrives. There is some sort of charisma about this piece that I cannot describe. It's bulky and pretentious, but there's something about that 18K gold dragon with the pearl in his mouth and fiery ruby eyes that takes my breath away.

Thanks! They're interesting pens. From what I have learned they were made in 1945 for occupying Allied troops. The pen is made of bakelite with very light aluminum trim and is a true button filler like old Parker Duofolds. For being what I assume was a low quality pen given the time it was made and with whatever materials were at hand, it really is fun to write with.

Thanks da vinci, Feathers and mouzhik :-)

The Brahms, although based on a regular 146, provides quite distinct ink color than its kissing cousin. The burgundy ink is more bright and reddish, but with less shading.

I normaly find the differences between modern 146ers (appartbdrom the nib width) not very strong.

You never go wrong with a Montblanc...Please, have a look at my page www.nibbinibnibb.com.Thank you!

Quick question. Do you guys peel of the nib size sticker on the pen? Mine seems to fade more and more.

Yep peel that sucker off there, I hate it when I buy a used Montblanc and it still has that stupid sticker on it, half faded and with micro guck along the edge because some was using the pen without taking that stick off!

Why didn't someone kick me in the head, and tell me to get a Montblanc before I spent all my money on these darn Visconti's. I finally bought a Brahms with "F" nib from MB online. This is the best writing pen that I own now. Super smooth and very comfortable in the hand. A little on the light side, but I'll take that trade-off any time, for such a wonderful pen. Sorry for the bad phone pics. The closeup of the nib was done with an iPhone and 40X loupe (it kind of worked out).

I picked up a Tribute To Montblanc LeGrand in Singapore airport yesterday at 50% discount!

For those passing through Singapore airport in the next few days, the closing down sale is still going on but stocks are running low.

I wish I went earlier in the month, I wanted more BPs but now only FPs left. And some watches and leather goods.

Congrats on the nice pen! The beauty of the Brahms is that it's got a little bit of springy feeling to it and the curved section. I like mine a lot!

Darn right - almost! My Visconti Wall Street is a bit smoother than the Brahms I own.

What I like with the Brahms is its konkave section, which I found not often in modern MBs.

"He" is a good writer for sure.

Well, the only Visconti of mine that's as smooth is the Millionaire.... But at 2X+ the cost.... I just put in my order for the Tolstoy to arrive in Sept. I'm hoping that it is just as nice.
