My 149 with the most amazing OBB nib ever! I bought the pen the day after I bought the 146 in Burgundy. It was a bit of a stretch financially but it was worth every penny (even though I had to pay around $150 more than I expected due to stupid customs stuff).

I present my lovely 149:

Look at that beautiful nib:

And now I have an older brother for my 146 that will protect it from my flock of Pelikans :P

Looking good with 149. Maybe a little narrow, but otherwise fine. :)

An early 1950s 234½ came home with me from the LA Pen show. Then the enablers on FPN were showing off their pink gold 90th anniversary pens. A little looking around and I discovered they were discontinued and selling out quickly. So three of them arrived on the doorstep recently, one of each size. Now I have to decide what ink to put in each. 90th Anniversary Permanent Grey in the 144, of course, but then what? Decisions, decisions . . . .

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

My first vintage MB, a 142G from the 50's, I guess. The piston knob indicates the nib as an OB, but it looks like an OM to me, with some flex in it (semiflex?). Very nice addition to the collection.

And getting along with my 144 doue and my 146

Bought this MB 144 Burgundy Doue, that will arrive in a couple days. The section ring is totally corroded so I'll send it to MB for replacement and overall service.

BTW, is the cap gold plated? There is a mark of 925 on it, but I think this is the purity of the silver underneath...

I bought the same pen with same section ring corrosion

What does MB charge for replacing that ?

I am hoping its not a lot more in India then in the US/Eur

My JFK Special Edition finally came in and I picked it up yesterday. So So nice. Inked it up with some of the Diamine 150th Anniversary ink, Regency Blue. The ink color almost matches that deep blue of the body. Its a very nice pen and it writes well. I got the Fine nib, but that even seems almost medium to me (maybe the ink).

Shanbo

The nearest MB boutique is quite far from where I live (600km) so I only go there from time to time when I visit my wife's parents, but I called the boutique this week and, by phone and without seeing the pen, they told me that they charge around USD 60 to replace the ring, USD 100 for a full body service, including replacement for resin and plastic parts, and USD 150 for a full body service plus metal cap replacement. I didn't ask the charge for a nib replacement, because my pen is buttery smooth. These are the prices in Brazil converted from brazilian money to USD.

I'll probably ask for a section/feed replacement because the pen is leaking.

Cheers

Burgundy ones are really beautiful. I'm battling with the thoughts of buying a used 146 Burgundy... but I already stretched a bit with Princesse Grace and my other shopping's..

It's actually my first Montblanc fountain pen, joining my Faber-Castell Ambition, Lamy Safari, and Lamy Al-Star workhorses that I started this hobby with. I have always wanted to buy a Montblanc fountain pen, and couldn't resist one when I saw the exact one I wanted at Singapore Changi airport duty free Montblanc boutique store for a 30% discount off the thousand SGD retail price.

Starwalker Midnight Black Metal - Medium Nib

Ink (Cartridges): Mystery Black, Midnight Blue

Ink (Bottles): Permanent Black, Permanent Blue

What appeals to me about this Starwalker is the clean understated lines that do not look too shiny or dramatic for daily use or taking notes in meetings. I love the grippy ruggedness of the ribbed blacked out metal body. Another consideration was compatibility with cartridges in a pinch since I need to travel often, making it impractical to lug around an ink bottle sometimes. Recently found out my GvFC converter simply fits the Starwalker, and began experimenting mixing inks at home, happy panda indeed.

Beautiful pen and beautiful hand writing, do you write with the cap posted or does that add too much weight.

A 146 with stub nib and an Oscar Wilde, which I have just sent to Michael Masuyama to be stubbed. The latter has the nicest, juiciest and smoothest broad nib ever but is just a little too broad for me without introducing the line variation that a stub will bring.

The pictures of the two new members of the family, a Legrand Doué Pinstripes and a 149 with a 14C bicolor nib, solid ebonite feed and a 2 barrel construction which puts it somewhere in the 70's or 80's

In less than a week I ended up with a 146 that was sold to me as having a stub nib, but it's really a big BB that act like a stub, and a mid - '80's 149 with a fine nib that is just a little too dry for my tastes right now. The best part is each were found for under $200 bills.
