Congratulations. I recall you wanting that pen for a while. As in all princess stories of the Disney era, I hope your dreams turn into a happily ever after.

Thank you, indeed dreamed about for a long time. Was love in first sight, but when I met with her in person, that was a life changing. The question was really about when. And finally its a few days away.

A lovely 90th anniversary 149 is in my future...Currently it's making a stop in Germany for a little upgrade to a BB nib

Congrats. A great choice, if I do say so myself. I had originally bought a BB, but I decided to go nuts with mine.

Greetings.

This is my first Montblanc.

I didn't really pick it, it picked me.

It was one of those infamous eBay listings.

Pictures were OK, minimal discription.

After a long study of the pictures and extensive research I bid and won at a good price.

When it arrived It was total caked with dried ink.

I cleaned it up, required lot of soaking and ultrasonic, but cleaned up beautifully.

I gave it a good inspection and to my eye it looked authentic, but what do I know so off to out local Montblanc store.

Well they gave it a careful going over and confirmed it was indeed authentic.

Insert a big sigh at this point!

The following in not confirmed, and is based on what I could scratch together.

Montblanc Meisterstück Solitaire 1443
cartridge-converter

18k two tone medium nib

W-Germany 1985

Gold plat over brass, guilloche

condition between VG and Fine

First impressions,

Firm, dependable, the body of the pen is very light for a metal pen and unposted quite nice to work with, posted it becomes a little unbalanced. (I usually don't post anyways)

I have all that ink to use now. I have to either start laying more down with each stroke or rubber band a bunch of pens together. :D

I know you also like Visconti. The other pen I just picked up recently is a HS Crystal with the 1.3 stub. The next stop is just pouring ink on the paper and wiping off some excess with my fingers.

With these pens you can burn some more ink than with an EF, congrats.

Mookli - thanks for sharing. I am glad you were able to find that pen you were looking for. It's always such a nice surprise when eBay purchases work out better than expected.

Well, since I need another pen (obviously), I took a chance on a big boheme that supposedly has seen little use and has a B nib. Pictures to come when it gets here.

Time to sell some other pens to rotate the collection.

Well its definitely a way to go over a huge ink collection... My taste for fine nib and some medium won't help much... Maybe I should look for oblique or another extra large nib to feel that I actually use ink. :D

Picked up a 90th Anniversary 145 at Dromgoole's in Houston. I was told they wouldn't be available after April 1 so get them while you can.

Axis,

Not only a beautiful pen, but namesake to a great man.

I have seen close up pictures of the girl with the dragon fly, and the work in breathtaking.

I cant imagine how wonderful it must be to hold!

Sooo excited about my first Montblanc! A 146 in Burgundy Red with a Medium nib. Also got the Florence case to go with it and I must say that they make quite the pair! The nib is amazing, just glides over the paper by leaving a lot of ink in its wake. Don't really think it's a medium it writes more like a stubbish B. Next up is the big star!

Canibanoglu - a great looking pen and my favorite of the cases from MB in recent years. (Slight preference for the croc-embossed leather.)

Was this a local pickup or a fleabay steal?

As mentioned earlier in this thread, my latest MB acquisition is the Big Boheme. I took a chance on one from eBay and it turned out better than expected. Certainly the pen had been used, but I was able to clean most of the gunk out (saw blue, brown and black colors on the paper towel).

There were a few positive surprises. The warranty booklet was filled out and the original MB boutique sales receipt from 3/30/03 for $475 + tax was included. I notice the receipt was two pages, which was strange. A closer examination revealed the original owner bought a B, but then exchanged that pen 10 minutes later for a BB. Good choice!

I loaded it with the only cartridges I have for an MB and here are some photos.

It was actually bought from here on FPN. It was funny really. Just the day before it was listed here I had posted on a local forum that I was looking for a 146 in burgundy red. The next day, this one pops up! It had a free spinning piston out of the box but I think I fixed it by removing the piston and adjusting it. It still doesn't engage right away but it doesn't loosen itself anymore. Just flushed the pen and a lot of dark stuff came out of it. Not sure if that was because of the ink I put in there after I got it or some buildup from years of storage. Will have to do a more thorough cleaning some time but I'm afraid I might damage the pen if I use a homemade 10% ammonia pen flush. We'll see.

I also bought a 149 in OBB the day after I bought this one but I probably will not accept the package. Stupid Fedex is trying to charge me for customs related stuff (not the tax itself but they're trying to sell me their service) and the customs declaration is about 200 euros more than I paid for it. I'll probably pick a 149 locally once I sort everything out. Still, it is very saddening, I was really excited to start my MB family with the two biggest pens.

Oh well, I'm rambling. It was a crazy day. I couldn't wait for the post office to deliver the pen so I went to their place and actually looked for the package for two hours in all their bags.
