I just took advantage of the strong dollar and the website redesign sale at Appelbloom to pick up 5 completely unneeded bottles of MB ink.

Pink (30ml limited)

Corn Poppy Red

Bordeaux

Green

Toffee Brown

They use FedEx so I should get the ink by mid next week in California.

Most recent acquisition is my JFK that I had pre-ordered previously, AND had it changed to a Fine nib (as I always do). It finally arrived at my boutique a couple of months ago.

Won't be buying any new pens for a while due to medical bills.

So, finally a Montblanc owner! I fully intended my first MB to be a 149 but found a great 146 Bordeaux (for which I have a soft spot) unused with the red leather pen case here on FPN and bought that! Can't wait for it to get here. It has a medium nib.

I probably shouldn't have done that as I have bought a lot of pens before this (3 Pelikans in the last month) but I couldn't resist.

What's worse (or shall I say better?) is that I couldn't leave my new 146 alone against a flock of Pelikans so I just placed an order for an OBB 149! My wallet is cursing at me currently and will probably keep doing that for the next couple of months...

Nice ink, congrats!

Me too have recently bought a similar stuff - Meisterstück 90 Years Ink.

Some ink for me too today, two old style bottles of MB Turquoise, and a bottle of Irish Green. All purchased for half price at an artists supply shop closing down sale. I'd gladly have paid full price if the shop would stay open... Shame to see another B&M close down.

Bought this MB 144 Burgundy Doue, that will arrive in a couple days. The section ring is totally corroded so I'll send it to MB for replacement and overall service.

BTW, is the cap gold plated? There is a mark of 925 on it, but I think this is the purity of the silver underneath...

It's sterling silver plated with gold.

Sterling plated with 14K gold is called: Vermeil. Up until the end of the 20th century (give or take a year), Montblanc used vermeil for all its gold and doue pen caps and barrels (unless they were solid gold and exceptionally expensive). Clips are and were gold plate. However, now MB's gold pens are merely gold plate.

Interesting! I've already heard this term "vermeil" but didn't know what it means. Thank you!

MB used rolled gold also, at least through the 1960s.

Congratulations. I recall you wanting that pen for a while. As in all princess stories of the Disney era, I hope your dreams turn into a happily ever after.

Just confirmed earlier today with Hamburg, I will be getting a 90th 149 with an OBBB nib. That is the widest nib they still have available for an exchange. The pen is en route to MB now for the "upgrade."

Congratulations! I have the 90th in O3B as well... it's impressive.

Jealous sigh...

I have all that ink to use now. I have to either start laying more down with each stroke or rubber band a bunch of pens together. :D

I know you also like Visconti. The other pen I just picked up recently is a HS Crystal with the 1.3 stub. The next stop is just pouring ink on the paper and wiping off some excess with my fingers.

Oh just you wait until you see the Crystal in person. The pen looks great in photos but you have to see it in person to really appreciate the depth of the shaved celluloids inside the acrylic... And the nib is great. I got the B and it is almost as wet as my M1000 and has a very nice spring to it, almost a semi-flex. I would love to hear your thoughts on the 1.3 stub when you get it. It was either that or the B, obviously I went with the B.

VivienR, congratulations on your purchase, that is indeed a breathtakingly beautiful pen. Still eyeing it for my girlfriend... I would love to use it myself but it's a bit too feminine for me, I think. Still, nothing's stopping me from using it from time to time when I get it for her :P Would love to see your photos and thoughts about the performance of the nib.
