What's Your Most Recent Mb Purchase?

I just bought a 144 in burgundy. I inked it up yesterday with PR Black Cherry. I'm pleased at how well the ink compliments the color of the pen. This is my second MB and I hope to acquire more over the years!

1950s 144 piston filler, OBB with flat feed.

Am amazed how much ink the telescopic (?) piston draws into the pen. What a system!

Thrilled. Almost a grail. Been a long time coming.

And my first oblique, to boot.

Welcome to the oblique side. Pictures?

Thank you. Enjoying exploring oblique.

Believe me, I'm doing us all a favour by sparing us my photography.

A lovely 149 to replace one I recently let go as I just couldn't bring myself to be happy with the nib (too fine)

I posted it here if anyone is interested in seeing it

My wife was jealous of my Mark Twain WE and the 149 I picked up from Nitsch. So, we picked her up a MB 145 this weekend. She preferred a "F" Nib. She's already looking at a Boheme.

I just picked up an MB Writers Edition Thomas Mann from my local Boutique. I had to wait 10 weeks for a nib change to a medium, done in Hamburg. It was well worth the wait. Writes smooth and clean, one beautiful heavy pen!

Ok. Looks like we have been bitten by the FP bug. My 146 Platinum "B" and my wife's Black Onyx Boheme "M" arrived yesterday. This may be it for a while. We'll see. We are certainly enjoying all of them!

Well, after setting out on my grail search for a 1950s 149, a 138 and 139, having now bagged the 149 and 139, this afternoon I paid for the final piece - a MB 138. Mania over. Just the looooooooooooong wait for a safe delivery. I'll look to post photos soon.

The Mark Twain Set, another 149 in B nib and 1 two pen case.

The pen case fits the 149 pretty well but not two 149 at the same time.

Recently, just a beat up classique rollerball in platinum trim. That brings my total of Montblanc pens to 8, only 1 of which I would classify as a truly desirable pen but I like them all. Of course, I also have a handful of counterfeit Montblanc pens that are surprisingly smooth writers. My carry pen remains my 149 though...

Wow, that's a big haul!

How do you like the 149 B? I'd like to see a writing sample if you get a chance.

Enjoy!

Despite deciding not to buy any more pens this year after finally getting my 'grail pen', I was in the local John Lewis the other day and they had the Boheme reduced to just under 2/3 of normal price. Well, it would have been rude not to buy it. Wouldn't it? :)

I just love this cool pen and its mechanism - I was looking for a pen to carry in jeans pockets. To avoid leaks should the top come off a normal fountain pen, I considered the Pilot Vanishing Point as the nib would not contact clothe and transfer ink, but the clip near the grip and its length put me off. This one is perfect!

Sure Blade Runner,

Here is the writing example for the 149. I have 3 "B" nibs from MB.

This one is not as smooth as the other ones. When I got it 2 days ago this pen actually skips time to time. but after a few days of continue usage (2nd fill now) it is getting better. Laying out consistent lines w/o skipping and starts right away leaving it up cap for more than 5 min.

As you can see the down stroke is a little thicker than the cross stroke. The major difference in line width is when you do the left hand cross stroke. The line is thinner than my "F" MB nib.

Conclusion, I think this nib should be a tap bit more wetter than now for its full potential. Properly in a few month I might send it to a nibster for adjustment if it does not improve by that time.

For comparison I also added the 146 modified "B" nib with right oblique and stub. The down stroke of this nib was kept the same as original. This is a great example of what it can be done with an "B" nib.

Thanks Kaisede. Looks like nice down and horizontal line variation. Each of my broad nibs has a slightly different character, variations that I like, because I use so many different kinds of stationery. Enjoy!
