Just got a 1997 set with the 144 and the ballpoint. According to the pictures it will need some polishing, but I hope it works fine, at least. I'm expecting it to be delivered until friday.

To be honest I don't know, because the seller didn't know! He said that he bought this set for himself, in 1997 in Zurich, and have used just a few times. So I'm hopping it's an M, because it would be the most probable choice of a casual costumer, I guess the other sizes are more to the enthusiasts.

But whatever the nib is I'm happy and it will be a nice item in my small collection. :)

An M would be great, but if you are lucky you will get a B or BB.

Wonderful smooth nibs, slightly stubbish and a joy to write with.

Dont forget to post pics :)

So... the most recent MB purchase... I could not resist to buy another 149 90th Anniv. and florentine mocha case shortly before Christmas. I decided for EF nib now. No mistake in the choice, the nib is a true EF width and butter smooth. It semms that the nibs of 90th Anniv. series are of great quality.

Sorry, no pics today but some will be available soon.

My Meisterstuck LeGrand F nib in 90th Anniversary edition is my most recent purchase.

I bought it in 2015, just a few days ago.

Picked up my first 149 when I stopped in a boutique in Jakarta. I usually use a Pilot VP, and with my new job, anticipated I will be signing a lot more documents. Played with the tester pens for around 30mins and decided on an OB nib.

Boutique gave me an older and more fancy box with the 149, taking a bit of time to get used to writing with the OB but the ink is flowing much smoother now.

I received the pen yesterday.

A real beauty, but need some polishing and a lot of cleaning. I guess the former owner wasn't fond of maintenance (and cleaning)...

After the first cleaning the pen is working, the ink flows well, but the nib is a litle scratchy. I'm a begginer, so I don't know how to fix this... :(

BTW, I'm not sure about the nib size, maybe M, maybe F. Is there a way to find out?

New MBs come with a sticker on the barrel and a notation on the outer box. Unfortunately if you dont have either of these then its a bit of a guessing game. I would say it is probably a fine but I could be wrong...

Worth doing a search on the forum about your scratchy nib. Many possible causes and fixes. I am no expert in this (or indeed any!) pen field.

I have a 144 that looks like yours "unmaintained". I love it and its in regular rotation :)

Very nice! And you got the new collector's case as well?

Don't you just love the slightly matte finish of the Hemigway's resin and metal parts?

Cheers

i did get the Box also :D

i have been staring at the Hemi all afternoon. i love the fact that is a matt brown type colour rather than the normal deep shine of the black resin.

the problem is that now i want a 139 :gaah:

I can totally relate :-)

The first time I've seen the Hemigway in San Marino around Easter time of 1995 I thought it actually was a vintage pen; in October1995 I was lucky to get a left over one for slightly less than the original retail price.

I'm sure you will like yours a lot.

Cheers

Michael

Lovely pen. The Hemi is a real classic in my eyes.

Box looks good too. Did you get that from Max also?
