My newest purchases are a 4810 Patron of the Arts Alexander the great, NIB with original Neiman Marcus price Sticker still on the box. Very cool. I also bought a LTD. edition Edgar Allan Poe 3 pc. set. Both were at an auction on a foreclosed business.

Nice photo though RaulT. Really like the quilted effect on pen case. Looks soft and wholly appropriate for your prized pens

Thanks for sharing.

Well, is not the fountain pen ...

I like that pen pouch. Is that a current production MB pouch? Not a big fan of the hard leather MB pen cases.

got this in the wild (local classifieds ). it needs some tlc. the know seems to have bite marks and piston is not smooth, even though I couldn't find a trace of ink anywhere.

my worst experience ever with a seller.... paid him in full, yet he took more than 2 months to courier it.

(I don't want to get into details...but one of the worst and most irritating and infuriating seller)

I guess all's well that ends well, and better to stay away from long distance buys from the classifieds

Wow congrats on a fine pen. The good news is the piston nob can be replaced easily. The bad news is id dread to think what mb will charge. I would expect some tarnosh on the silver rather than bite marks how odd

thank you Michael r and pp763. : )

initially he mentioned that it belonged to his late father, but during one of the conversations (after getting paid) he told me that...he bought it from some local market for 200 rs... i.e about 3.25 $ and had no idea he could get so much for it. he said he had given the pen to his young kids to play with. I guess that explains the bite marks.

see what I mean by infuriating...all the tall tales I heard from this guy are enough to fill a book.

I think the pen was never used with ink, maybe just thrown about...I think getting the marks out would be expensive especially via mb, initially I am trying to get just the piston system repaired.

i had polished the pen thoroughly before posting the pics...it arrived heavily tarnished.

I wonder if mb replace silver parts for the flat fee they charge for a service on the resin pens

No, service on precious metal pens is more expensive. A few years ago it was around 250€.

But I don't know if they replace "worn" parts. Since the filling knob is solid silver I would ask an expert to try removing them without changing out the part.

Cheers

I look forward to receiving a few Montblanc items in the mail next week:

  • Meisterstück 35 Safety
  • Meisterstück L35 parts pen
  • Oblong pouch for three pens in truffle color (best MB case in my opinion!)

I'm really curious how the two vintage pens turn our  ...you know those purchases where the brain tells you "no" but the heart says "yes"? Both pens will need some work and at least one a few investments in parts

'Will post pictures after receiving them!

Have a great Sunday!

Michael

Today a fellow peer brought these two babies to the office. Bought them both. The 149 is from early 80s. both in M nibs.

Wonderful purchase! I wish I had co-workers like that!! :)

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!
