Christmas has come early. I just returned from the MB Boutique with a JFK Special Edition (medium nib). I won't try to compete with sampanel's great photos. Small wrapped package is a gift from MB; one of their leather business card holders.

Very impressive! How does it write?

My most recent is quite modest: a bottle of Permanent Grey ink. Really like it in wide nibs like O3B, 1.3mm stub.

Thanks everyone! :D

Truth be told I've spent more time holding it in my hands and staring at it than writing with it, haha. It is an absolutely gorgeous pen and draws comments from everyone, even people who were previously ambivalent about all my other fountain pens. It is quite heavy (i'd say its between 2-3x the weight of a 149) and feels very solid in hand. Comparing it to the 149 the cap on the skeleton is slightly shorter, in case anyone is fussed about that! The pen is pleasantly cool to the touch when you first pick it up and the skeleton body gives it a very unique feel, but given that there is so little metal it matches the warmth of your hand very quickly, feeling even nicer to write with. The stock M nib writes beautifully, and I'm not sure if it's due to bad lighting, but comparing the nibs between this and my 90th 149, the skeleton's nib is slightly more reddish. The quartz star is gorgeous and has an opaque look to it, and I think it tops off the pen nicely.

So far I have been floored by the pen. It is just something else; I can't find any fault in it. My long-held dream of owning a Montblanc skeleton is finally a reality :). If I can get a hold of a better camera I will take some nicer photos

Thanks for sharing. It really is a beautiful pen. I wonder if the nib color is different because the skeleton is solid rose gold vs. plated on the 149?

I suspect you are right about the nib.

Well, traded up that 22P I me nations earlier for a Meisterstück 121 for even less from Japan. I prefer the very subtle design of the earlier 1960s models, with a rounded top jewel and hooded nib, but it was just too small and light of a pen to hold comfortably. Plus, if I'm goig to have a MB, it better be a piston filler.

Maybe I'll find a 14 or 24 later down the line.

10 years on PFN! I feel old, but not as old as my pens.

Inked up: Wing Sung 618 - BSB / PFM III - Kiri-same / Namiki Falcon - Storia Fire / Lamy 2000 - Fuyu-gaki / Sheaffer Triumph - Eclat de Saphir
