Just got my 22P in the mail! Wished it was a piston-filler, but now that I've cleaned it up, it writes absolutely beautifully.

10 years on PFN! I feel old, but not as old as my pens.

I thought that the 22 were piston fillers (my 24 is a piston filler).

Is´nt there a ring missing? between the section and the inkwindow.

An MB 252 with an oblique broad nib , which suits me very well. It is also the only pen I own with a personalisation R. Gericke, I think that there is a Roland Gericke who is something to do with motorcycle equipment or clothing.

The other pen is a 146 on its way to the Royal Exchange for a service, the manager there is a big fan of older MBs.

The hooded wing-nibs are great writers!

But yes; your pen is either assembled wrong or missing some pieces (rings). Also the 22 is a piston filler. Can you please post a picture of the barrel?

Cheers

I realized that, when cleaning it out, I did reassemble it wrong, and put the silver ring up against the gold one. My mistake.

And yes, it is in fact a cartridge filler and not a piston! The barrel is hollow with an amber jewel on the end instead of the snowcap. From browsing German pen forums through Google Translate, it seems that it was a fairly uncommon variant. I knew about the cartridge-fill 3x and 3xx series, but not this one. I'll post a photo when I get a chance.

That Bordeaux 147 is beautiful. I love the color, it's classy and elegant in a different way than the standard black. Very nice purchase.

I recently bought and received a near mint 146. Until the pen arrived I did not like black pens with gold furniture at all. I told my wife I would never buy one. The minute I held this pen and cleaned it off my opinion changed. It's a beautiful, simple yet elegant timeless design. I know you all know what I mean. I've barely touched my other pens since it arrived, including a Vanishing Point Decimo, Pilot Custom 74 and a beautiful Bordeaux Pelikan M205 with a beautiful stubby medium nib.

There is something about this 146 that just looks and feels right.

I enjoy MB 146 pens, Sailor, Pilot and Platinum pens as well. I have a strong attraction to dark red and muted green ink, colors I dislike for everything but FP ink. I also enjoy practicing my handwriting and attempting to improve it. I love the feel of quality paper under a gold nib.

So far, it's been a dream, with Diamine cartridges. Never have I had so much fine with carts!

I do have a contemporary Meisterstuck on the way, so that might take the spotlight soon...

Ah, yes; this would be the 22P then.

Hope you'll enjoy using it
