Finally tracked down this beautiful pen, thanks to help from an FPN member.

It's the 149 75th anniversary Limited Edition, with the rose gold and mother-of-pearl star -- with a crazy OBBB nib!

Been chasing this pen for months, one of just 1,924, so happy to finally have it.

Now that you mention it, this would go nicely with my spare MB florentine case.

like that - what is that model?

Hi Dr Stan, it's a Montblanc special edition - Master's for Meisterstuck L'Aubrac, made by one of the better French Laguiole ateliers. This particular edition is in Granadilla wood, sterling silver fittings (all engraved by L'Aubrac) with a MOP Montblanc star.

Very nice pen! I hope you took it out of the plastic wrapping by now and filled it with some ink ;-)

Enjoy in good health

Picked up a 149 from Las Vegas Montblanc. Just walked in to drop off my daily user, a Boheme fountain pen. Guy mentioned they had a sale, 40-60% off of some of their lines. Had star walkers, the stainless, 1/2 stainless and resin. Mine was 1/2 off.

Nice acquisition. I usually get notified of sales by my local boutique. It is a great way of picking up some great pens for excellent prices. I hope you enjoy yours for years to come.

I can show you the pictures the seller sent me.

When I get the pen Monday or Tuesday I'll provide my own pics with a writing sample.

Nice!

I was always wondering about the 13X pens with the blank, single "not-raised" cap bands. I have both 134 and 136 in this configuration but have never found them catalogued.

As far as I know the original pre-war design had a raised single cap band, some war-time pens have non-metal cap bands but only engraved ones and later post-war pens usually have either three blank bands or 3 bands with the main one being engraved with "Meisterstück".

…so this one must fit somewhere in-between pre-war and war time since I have seen the with the early high cap tops only.

My recent purchases from today's Tilburg Pen Show are:

  • Montblanc Defoe FP (will not get it in my hands until my birthday in a few weeks  )
  • Montblanc Friedrich The Great
  • Montblanc collectors box

Cheers

Michael

I'd assume its probably a cost-cutting measure in the early war years. It probably saved MB some brass material, but as the war progressed and conditions worsened I would say that's when the plain bands were phased out and the engraved bands were introduced.

Just my two cents.
