As with pepegege my latest is a Safety Pen, and I hope it qualifies as a Montblanc ..... it is a Staedtler Mars Safety Pen, made by Montblanc, around 1915? and courtesy of Barrie ... Thank you Barrie for a speedy delivery and a lovely pen. (ashamed to say that I had to seek advice as to how to put it back together after dismantling it ...and I thank Tom for his help!)

It joins my newish and small collection of Vintage MBs,which include a 254, 264 and a 344. My 30s Button Filler is not included as it is still being serviced. I love writing with these pens,it is a very different experience to my more modern 146 and 149s.

Apologies for the photos.

Picked this up at the DC Penshow.

Congratulations!

A fantastic version of an already iconic pen.

Enjoy.

Nice Balzac! :)

Do they make BB nibs for the WE's?

It has a B nib. I understand that MB only sold the Balzac with F and M nibs, but that upon return of the pen they would switch to a B. Appelbooms had one left which they had already switched for the B nib so I snapped it up. If anyone knows of a BB option on this pen I'd love to know about it.

Thank you very much. It has really been a "grail pen" to obtain a MOP MB. I don't think the 1913 counts as it is more of a painted type of star.

Beautiful pen, isaacrn!

The 75th has one of the most beautiful nibs, IMO. And that MOP star....

Ah "just" a B :)

It does look surprisingly stubby though. In any event a very nice pen indeed.

I had always wanted a Geometric Dimension and I'm glad that I placed the order.

That MOP star completely makes the whole pen...

_Stormin_ - I got the barley pattern earlier this year and completely agree the MOP star make all the difference in the world. Nice pen. I hope you enjoy it for a long time to come.

Here is the pen from the side. You can also swap for a plain clip at no charge. It is my favorite of the no special edition 146s in production.

This thread has been a bad influence once again! I randomly just picked up a 2010 John Lennon donation FP from the net. I hope it is in good shape. If not, It will have to go in for service. I'll post pics when I get it.

Just picked up a Daniel Defoe writers edition from the boutique in Zurich, there is quite a difference in resin pattern between pens so ended up having them show me their full stock to find the best one :) Ended up with a fine nib but i suspect it will be being taken in shortly for a B or BB replacement.

Im rolling the dice on this one. I completely agree that the patterns can make or break a pen. When I purchased mine, they didn't have any mediums in stock at the pen show, so were going to ship once they were back at their store front. Im hoping for something with subtle orange/brown hues rather than some of the ones that had a blob on the side of the pen.

Im surprised they actually opened up sealed boxes so that you could pick the one you wanted.
