MB 234 1/2 with 14kt M, full flex nib. Should be arriving from Germany tomorrow. Well, at least I hope so.

The best looking 234 1/2 I have seen. Congratulations!

My 234 and a half is very nice, but yours appears to be mint. Any photos of the nib??

The pen just arrived yesterday. I actually bought it off fleabay from a young gentlemen in the UK who had inherited it from his grandfather's estate. I had the seller send it directly to Max in Germany for restoration.

Here are a couple of before pics:

As you can see from the after pictures, Max did an incredible job with the restoration. The pen is WWII vintage and originally had a steel nib which had no iridium left. Max found a 14kt 4 1/2 nib to replace it with, and as you said, it now looks mint. Although I have just started using it, I can tell it will definitely become one o my favorite daily writers.

Hats off to Mr Max Schrage, an amazing artisan. :notworthy1:

Thank You for sharing. A pen of great understated elegance from turbulent times.

An artist he certainly is and a hell of a nice guy too. I will take a few photos of the nib over the weekend and post them. It is a beauty. Vintage Montblanc nibs are amazing!

Nice addition Brandon! Looking forward to an update with photos. :puddle: :puddle:

Thank you Blade.

Out of all the pens I've taken to work (Christie, Dostoevsky, Poe, Fitzgerald, Verne, Cervantes, Woolf, Mann and Twain), the Proust is the one that gets the most comments. Everyone loves it and states how elegant it looks. It has definately become the favourite pen I own, I imagine it will stay inked for a very long time.

My Collection: Montblanc Writers Edition: Hemingway, Christie, Wilde, Voltaire, Dumas, Dostoevsky, Poe, Proust, Schiller, Dickens, Fitzgerald (set), Verne, Kafka, Cervantes, Woolf, Faulkner, Shaw, Mann, Twain, Collodi, Swift, Balzac, Defoe, Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Saint-Exupery, Homer & Kipling. Montblanc Einstein (3,000) FP. Montblanc Heritage 1912 Resin FP. Montblanc Starwalker Resin: FP/BP/MP. Montblanc Traveller FP.

Waiting for an early 50s 3-42G with BB nib, arriving any day from Germany. Can't wait! David

At the weekend I bought a Marcel Proust. It has turned up this morning. I knew it was "used", it has come inked some I am currently using it at work today. This evening I will give it a good flushing but I am very impressed.

I can see this pen becoming one of my favourites. No negatives about the pen. I love the nib, the balance, the way the cap screws onto the end of the pen when you post it. I really like the hexagonal barrel as it will prevent (or at least reduce the risk) the pen from rolling off the desk.

I will try and take some photos at the weekend.

Brandon, that is one that is on my mind a lot. It is one of the new pens that has a truly vintage look. Glad to hear good things about it. Look forward to your photos. :puddle:

The latest MB addition is a late 80's Florence burgundy one pen case. It actually looks darker in real life than on the picture.

Hi, where did you purchase it? How much did it cost you?

p/s Congratulations for the latest addition. It is a real beauty.

Friday I got my first Montblanc FP. I have been sitting here waiting all giddy like a school girl and it shows up and I can't help but laugh at the size of this pen. I mean I have read it was smaller but wow this is down right tiny. Oh well wife will like it anyway. On to the 145 or 146 I guess

Didn't get any pens since the Twain and Lennon SE. However, over the last couple of weeks I got a 2 pen NightFlight pouch in the discontinued beige colour, and the Meisterstuck Selection notepad holder in both the two colour and the mocha croco finishes.

Darius,

How is the paper quality of the notepad? Does it have room for a credit card? Cheers.

Two vintage additions:

  • Early Montblanc 149G in celluloid from the 1950's with a long striped ink window, flat feed and imprinted piston knob (needs a new cork and some work on the loose cap rings but otherwise great condition)

  • c. 1940's wartime Montblanc 136 with “Montblanc Meisterstück” engraved into the cap instead of a "real" cap band - the pen is missing any visable metal trim except of the nib and clip; very long ink window, short cap top and correct very flexible silver colored nib and old style "drop" clip (needs a new cork as well and currently has a stuck piston)

Both pens will go back to Hamburg to visit Max from maxpens so I'm pretty sure I will get them back in pristine condition!

Following my recent grail sale I have pressed the button on a grey celluloid 146. It is heading this way next week. Pictures to follow, although it has featured on here before...

Following a moment of weakness after seeing Gdowne's post (for the upteenth time), coerced by a stupidly large glass of cabernet sauvignon, I decided upon a MB 234-1/2.

Having now made the decision, somehow I don't feel so bad. Yep, upon reflection, it is only what deserve it.

Oh the waiting!!!!

Pavoni.

Both EF...

What is the striped pen? It appears to sport a 149 nib.

BR,

The paper is of good quality. Works well for up to B nibs. With BB's, you would possibly see some bleed through depending on the ink. It's an A7 size notepad, so a BB would be too thick a line for it anyway. The holder has a banknote compartment and a CC compartment. It's quite practical.
