An MB146 14C OBB fountain pen, accompanied by the 172L mechanical pencil, both from the 50s according to the seller. They arrived this afternoon at my office. The 146 needs a bit of cleaning, definitely a good night's soak first and, if I dare, some polishing. Dipped in ink (from my Sailor 1911, because I didn't have a bottle of ink with me at work), it produces a beautiful line. I do feel I need to rotate the nib quite a bit to the left, but when I do, it really is super-silky-smooth. So far, so good.

The 172L looks in better shape than the 146; perhaps it is has been used less.

My first OBB pen. A few years ago, I thought I would write with fine nibs forever.

Montblanc Noblesse 1157 in perfect condition. The nib was described as an OB, but it could be an OBB.

Really different purchase for me, but a charming pen. :happyberet:

Shown with a vintage 149 for comparison.

Gorgeous nib on that!

Thank You!

GP, I've been a convert for a while now and I blame it all on you. I will always be grateful.

Kind Regards

Congrats Stephen - these Florence pouches are becoming very difficult to find, and they are the perfect way to carry a pen in your trouser pocket.

Use a dollop of leather conditioner on the pouch - rub it in, let it dry, and then buff. That will help restore the natural oils and prevent cracking. It will also buff up a low shine.

Vert nice.

Curious....did this set come from France, by way of Italy? Had my eye on a VERY similiar set. :happyberet:

Yes.

I missed an earlier opportunity to buy a 146 OBB without the pencil, which may have been in a slightly better shape, but it became to expensive for me. Although I must say, this set was almost not mine either -- I think it would have taken $20 to beat me.
