I love it, so when I found some bottles online I just went for it.

I dont blame you :) it is one of my favourite inks.

That's a good ink.

I finally got a 149!!!! It has an EF nib and ebonite feed. Unfortunately, I had to send it away to MB Service to get the piston replaced. I can't wait for it to get back! I may do a review once I get it back. ;)

Congrats, but be careful I send my 149 from 1970's to Montblanc because was leaking trough the piston (in my knowledge, just have to change on the top part of the piston the gasket ) my pen was in excellent condition im extremely cautious with my pens, well they return a new pen, just the nib and the clip belong to my pen, they do this without my consent and contrary to other repairs in other pens they don't return the exchange pieces, i was furious because they just broke my relationship with that pen that I buy because the born of my first son, i try all I can reach and nothing.. the kind attendant of the MB boutique say to me OH they give to you a new $700.00 pen...so i hope they just do what they were asked, regards.

My IIIb Pearl/Brown arrived. It's got a semi flex nib that's wonderful to write with.

A question though to the experts - the nib is signed with 14C and not 14KAR as per Roessler's book, but it's got the correct b within the triangle mark. Would this nib be correct though?

Best regards, Kai

Sorry, I cannot answer your question about the nib, but wow, that is one beautiful pen. Congrats on the acquisition of such a superb piece.

I always thought the series III pens were the economy line of pens. I did not realize they came in this colour. Till now I have only seen the series III in black .

I've added a few vintage MB pens to my collection in the last weeks, but the most recent purchase is this beautiful and minty 246 in black:

Montblanc 246 -- 1953-54

This is a late black streamed 246 model, from around 1953. I bought it in mint condition, as you can see from the pics:

fpn_1378679569__045x.jpg

The pen comes with the characteristic and correct spade clip:

fpn_1378679610__048x.jpg

... and sports a beautiful KF (Kügel feine) 14 carats gold nib:

fpn_1378679686__055x.jpg

Like other early 1950s Montblancs, this shows the flat ebonite feeder:

fpn_1378679782__057x.jpg

The Montblanc name is engraved on the cap and still crispy and shows the original golden imprint:

fpn_1378679883__070x.jpg

The KF nib writes in a peculiar way, at least on my hand, I guess I`ll have to get used to it ;-):

The smaller siblin of the 246 (number 1060) appears on MB Collectible Stars:

Finally, a comparisson with the 344 that I also received last week.

The joys of flying. Just picked up a brand spanking new MB 2 pen pouch at The Pen Shop at Stansted for nearly £20 under RRP :)

My 149 feels cosy and safe and has space for a friend!

Had a very busy montblanc month for me. Bought a new Montblanc Legrand rollerball (after my 1970s noblesse was nicked) and am loving the montblanc rollerball refills - contrary to many of the reviews. Waiting for a BB 146 which is being stubbed as I post and a 1960s 149 (tri-colour 14c nib) which is can't wait to get hold of. Wanted a 149 for a while. Just hope its got a nice flexible nib, something I've read so much about on this forum.

Steel OB nib.

And I have a problem. Is this pen is a Montblanc O30?
Gidania, eBay user, have auction with that pen.

But this pen is a piston filler. My is a cartridge filler.

regards

Konis, according to "Collectible Stars" by Rosler and Wallrafen p.55 the 30 came in both a piston filler and cartridge version.

Last week I bagged myself this beautiful and minty couple for $180.

fpn_1378729446__012x.jpg

Here shown on a page of a 1954 Catalogue, which features an earlier 344 pen, with the engraved star and no band inscription:

fpn_1378846929__080x.jpg

The pen writes smoothly with a tad of flex:

fpn_1378729494__004x.jpg

The 14 C nib is the right one for the 3rd series in the 1950s:

fpn_1378847467__086x.jpg

The point's size is engraved on the filling knob. This model, in spite of belonging to the 3rd series, does not have a blind cap, but an integrated piston knob, like the 1st and 2nd series:

fpn_1378847727__092x.jpg

Perfectly clear ink window and round grooved ebonite nib, characteristic of the second half of the 1950s:

fpn_1378847817__084x.jpg

The imprint on the 996 pix pencil is clear and crispy:

I was just browsing the newly listed ebay BIN listings and I saw this MB ?fountain pen? and ballpoint set for $160, a price I couldn't refuse.

Weird, he just relisted another set with the same pictures and description as the one I just bought, should I be concerned?

edit: just contacted the seller, he accidentally used the wrong pictures for the second listing.

Two 161s (one is a gift). Glad to finally have a Meisterstuck ball-point to accompany my 149 to work every day!
