My latest purchase is not a pen although in the Meisterstuck collection. A pair of specs that I've had converted to be my reading glasses. They are 22k gold-plated over titanium.

Hi Francois.

I like your MB reading glass. Cool.!!

stopped by at a local pawnshop in West Hollywood and spotted an old beat up MB 146 with missing snowcap and clip! Bought it for 40.00 dollars! Went straight to Bev Hills Montblanc and scored the cap/clip for a flat rate of 70.00 = 110.00 + tax! Not bad if you ask me!

That is a great find. Would love to see pics!

Your wish is my command! Here you go!

:clap1: I love a good find! Enjoy!

I was totally bowled over today - I walked into a MB store, and there on a shelf, was a Kafka!!! :yikes: One of the WE's I was still missing. They only sold it as a set. Of course I had to buy it, not caring much for the BP and pencil, but now I've got a Kafka as well, and very happy! Inked it with MB sepia, a color it deserves best.

Congrats on that Kafka. Enjoy!

Arrived via eBay, an unsealed Kafka 3 pc set for $1.650! While I normally just want the fountain pen, given the design I am glad I got the 2 additional items!

On its way and delayed because of yet another snow dump here in Connecticut is a fine point Thomas Mann, new and sealed. Wasn't the bargain the Kafka set was but still managed a 10% discount. Amazing for a 2009 release how difficult it is to find just the single fountain pen already.

Cervantes, Shaw, Schiller, Dickens and Twain are thrilled to have their "brothers" join the fold! And yes, they are ALL used, not just resting in a display case to stare at!

On the fence when the bank account increases again to get a 4810 Patron of the Arts series...I've seen the Francois I live and made the mistake of putting it in my hand. That series is really out of my price range but this one I made have to make an exception for!

Us collectors are often a crazy bunch, no?!!!

Crazy indeed, but it rocks!! Haha

Also happy I have the whole Kafka set - I would not normally be interested in the BP and pencil, but this design is really pleasing!

After shopping around for months, I have pulled the trigger and ordered my MB 149 F nib, via the Fountain Pen Hospital, today. Can't wait. This will be my first 149 and my intention is to use it for my main daily writer, backed up by a Pelikan M1000 F nib, which should arrive any day now. Gosh am I excited!

Hi razr, as your MB149 will be here before mine, would you let us know of its arrival and your initial throughts please. Is MB Midnight Blue your preferred choice of ink or is this your ink of choice specifically for your MB149? For my MB Chopin I use MB Black cartridges and I've bought MB Irish Green for my Thomas Mann (still waiting for the right moment to ink him up). I've seen lots of positive posts here for Pelikan inks and Waterman inks, so I am not sure what I will use for my MB149 (fine) when it arrives.

Congratulation Pavoni. A great choice. 149 is the best MB pen for daily use at work. Very classic appearance and it has been on the market for 75 years at least, some says 100 years.!

Hope waiting days are not that long for you although it is Worth waiting for.

Best wishes,

Htin

Congrats on the 149's. I have a vintage 60's F that flexes to a M. Wonderful pen, and a modern with a 0.7mm Cursive Italic BInder grind. I think I may try to pick up another vintage pen soon.

In order to appreciate the sweet, you must truly taste the bitter....

How come you guys keep the tags on the pen (nib size's)?

In case I flip the pen, I can still say everything is "complete". If you peel off the label, it's "incomplete" :roflmho:

somewhere there's a guy making little gold labels for FPs (F, M, B). If not, that would be a great business idea!!

I just added a Toscanini BP (this is really a cool pen) and an Oscar Wilde Mechanical Pencil.

I am trying to get one example of each of the Writer Editions. 8 more to go.

I also got a Fitzgerald off the "d'bay" recently, but it had to go back. The pen was described as excellent condition, but when I got it, this was what was wrong:

-cracked snow cap (bottom all the way through the star)

-crazing under the white pearl slab

-scratch across the white pearl

-some of the lettering of the signature was worn out

It went back immediately and the seller refunded all my money...classy move.

Thanks,

Brian

By the way, why doesn't Montblanc mark nib sizes ? I find that irritating and you may call it a hunch but I feel I'm not alone here -_-
