An Overgrown "vac": The Plexor

this is one of those “i don’t know what i just bought” and “i’m either a genius or a fool” moments, but i just picked up a french-made plexor pen on ebay—a large black button filler that the seller touts to be “bigger than the parker duofold senior,” at 145 mm capped (vs. 138 mm for the duofold senior). but this is is no flat-top; it’s a vacumatic look-alike, made by a company that apparently was under license to parker at some point.

there’s scant info on plexors online, and i’ve seen a couple of nice pictures and posters from another short thread on the plexor here on FPN. but this one appealed to me because—again—it looks like an overgrown vac! i’m paying about $118 for this “folly,” but i’m hoping i really like this pen when i see it.

i’d appreciate any further information on plexors you might have.

you may actually have, glenn. i did more searching and found another old FPN thread on plexor pens, to which you responded, here:

you can even spot my big black plexor in one of the pics in that thread. ;)

I've never heard of those.

thanks, norwood! it's on my way to my virginia address, but i won't be there myself till late next month, so it'll be another long wait. it looks good to me, though, especially the three-banded configuration (most plexors i've seen have only one thin band, like a major or the later UK duofold). since the pen was parker-licensed and is reportedly compatible with duofold parts (nib, section, filler), i just might replace the nib with a big duofold 14K nib, should this one not write well enough. will keep you posted.
