In one of the black & white early episodes of Perry Mason, Perry Mason uses a parker 51.

I caught the middle of an TV advertisement for a management consulting firm - can't remember the name. The ad features Arnold Palmer and at least twice he takes notes with a fp. I could not tell the make or model; it went by fast and I was without DVR. Nice to think that Arnie writes with a fp or better yet, that he sketches out golf course designs with a fp.

May we live, not by our fears but by our hopes; not by our words but by our deeds; not by our disappointments but by our dreams.

I'm rewatching the sci-fi series Farscape, and just noticed that the character John Crichton (Ben Browder) uses a FP to write in his journal. Here's a screen shot from episode s04e13 ("Terra Firma").

That is so spooky. I just watched this very episode earlier tonight and made my husband rewind it so I could get a better look at the pen. Anyone know what it is?

On The Colbert Report last Monday (September 12) Colbert was using (holding) what looks like a blue pilot varsity for the entire episode. There were a few times in the interview when you could see the ink window in the side of the pen.

Just saw that ad again. It is for a financial service company. I got a better look this evening and the pen seems to be a cigar shaped pen, a MB possibly.

"Of God and Men" (Des hommes et des dieux) 2010. Guardian review. And what looks like a Waterman Gentleman there? Anyone could confirm?

It's a Waterman Gentleman indeed. The semiflexibility of the nib can be appreciated while he writes.

Mont Blanc. Not sure the model since I'm not a MB user, but probably a 149.

In the movie Stalingrad (1993) the German soldier going to the Stalingrad front writing home with black FP, I cannot tell the type though.

The clip:

And the movie can be seen here:

The pen clip appears to be that of a Pelikan....a German pen probably very much in use at that time.

Mhmm. The furnishings make it look exactly like an M200. Though I don't believe that is time period accurate. Those trimmed furnishings were also used on the Pelikan 400, but it also came out a couple years later and I don't think it came in black.

OK, not a sighting, but dialog.

In the first Die Hard movie the sleazy bearded cokehead Ellis tells Hans, "Hey, business is business. You use a gun, I use a fountain pen what's the difference?"

I guess the difference is that Ellis didn't kill Hans with a pen.

In the opening scenes of Resident Evil Milla Jovovich walks over to a desk and uses a fountain pen (an overlay of some kind) to cross out something on a note pad.

No one mentioned Pink Panther (1996)? The scene where the inspector gives Clouseau a pen (Omas?) and Clouseau almost snatches it for himself, but manages to give it back to the professor and uses the filling lever as the clip while putting it in his pocket.

All bleeding stops...eventually

While Kermit The Frog goes through his old Rolodex looking for a celebrity guest in 'The Muppets', he scratches people off using a fountain pen in two sequential scenes.

Appeared to be black with silver furniture, I wasn't quick enough to ID it.

Cheers, Ted

Just watched "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" again. As a new member of FPN one sees things differently.....

In the first few minutes there is a killer crossing names off of his hit list with a fountain pen. Now, rumor has it that most of this movie is CG, so I don't know if this shot is CG or not. And as far as IDing the pen goes? you got me. Not a clue. maybe someone else can pipe in here and let us know.

Cheers!

In the new Sherlock Holmes, Professor James Moriarty uses some fountain pen at a book signing. There wasn't a good enough shot for me to I.D. it, however.

In the opening sequence of the show Shark Tank, Kevin O'Leary has a Pelikan in his hand. I don't know if it is a fountain pen or what type it is, however.

Ok, got one! :D

I just watched the last episode of the TV show "Alcatraz" and there was an ivory Visconti Rembrandt fountain pen (I have the exact same pen) used as a weapon in the scene (set in 1960 at a dinner party) between the Deputy Warden and the prisoner featured this week. The scene was a bit gruesome (the beautiful Visconti was covered in blood  ) but I got a kick out of "penspotting" the pen....

I caught the end of N.C.I.S. The west coast version. At the end of show the last scene had the little lady give a guy some papers to sign and she also hands him a pen that looked like a Montblanc Pen, I was not a Fountain but I thought I would still point it out.
