Fountain Pens In Movies And Tv

Another PBS historical reality series, Colonial House. They've got cheaty quill pens with a dip nib attached somehow, presumably so the colonists can actually write something instead of running through quills or being frustrated trying to make one useable. They don't focus on it much & I don't believe ever discuss the pens themselves, but it makes me cringe when they do close shots, because most of the people using them don't know which side is up.

In episode 8 of the Netflix German creepy show Dark, in a scene set in 1953, a boy is using a Pelikan, looks like a Mk 30, black with gold clip and cap ring.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Looks like a Waterman Jiffie with an orange clip on Deckard's piano in Blade Runner (yup, rewatching ahead of the sequel).

Haha, I have that exact same Jiffie! It was the first one I got, in fact.

One of the pens I used regularly when the movie first came out was a Jiffie.

In the movie The Pianist, Thos. Kretschman’s character is seen signing orders with a fountain pen near the end of the movie. I can’t identify the maker from the scene, although in general appearance/ outline it could be MB.

The TV series Outlander (S3, E1). I couldn't get a shot of the nib.

Wild guess: a Conway Stewart model.

I saw one in the movie 42 about Jackie Robinson when they signed a petition to kick him off the team. Couldn't make out what it was.

In episode 1 of Case (Icelandic police procedural on Netflix), they briefly show this Chinese pen as the detectives are searching the dead girl's room, about the 10 minutes in. I recognized it because I bought one last year.

I always remember the beautiful fountain pen given to Bond in the movie Octopussy... I read it was a Mont Blanc 146 Solitaire...

Watched Queen Elizabeth II give her 2017 Christmas message.

There was a capped, black flat-top fountain pen sitting on her desk.

I'm just guessing it's something English, but maybe not.

Did anyone else see her address?

Older iteration of one of the modern Duofolds, by a thread I saw earlier. Don't recall which version.
