Fountain Pens In Movies And Tv

In a later episode, Sarah uses a FP (I'll need to go back and find that scene to get a better look) to sign a document that's rather important to the plot.

And she was scratching that paper something awful :yikes:

Someone should have a serious word with the foley artists....

Actually, my husband is the one who spotted -- I was catching up on email and wasn't paying complete attention to the episode. I had to run the DVR back, then went online to have a look at Montegrappa pens, and to pull up the Goulet Pens page on the inks (which were actually, IMO, sort of underwhelming colors for the most part -- I've gotten spoiled by the range of Noodler's, Diamine and De Atramentis). Of course is now in retrospect it's making me wonder about whoever was the scriptwriter for that episode and whether he/she was one of Us.

The ironic thing was the scene at the beginning where Al pulled out a pen to sign the name tag he was given at the fundraiser, and I was disappointed that it looked like a click BP....

Hey -- I've got another one, in a most unexpected context. I was catching up on back issues of the SyFy show _Defiance_ , and one of the characters, one of the aliens that was some sort of traveling salesman, had some sort of black flat top pen. Sorry, couldn't find the character's name on IMDB for the episode, which is "If You Could See Her Through My Eyes", but if you know the show at all he's a guy that Irisa was having visions about, so I suspect he's becoming integral to the plot (well, one of them, anyway).

...said the die hard sci fi fan while holstering his fully loaded Pelikan blaster. ;)

Did anyone see Sherlock Holmes last night on PBS? There was a closeup of Watson writing with a black fountain pen with a gold band. The episode supposedly takes place in 1889 and to my very untrained eye the pen looked like something from the 1910 era at least.

Does anyone know what fountain pen is shown in Episode 1 of the Doctor Who episode titled, The Deadly Assassin? This is a Tom Baker episode.

During a recent BBC interview, Afghan president Karzai uses a Pelikan Souveran to sign some papers. M800 perhaps?

m1000 I would say

Having just rewatched The West Wing there is an episode where the previous president writes a letter to Josiah Bartlett with a fountain pen, but I was not able to identify it. Cant remember the episode either, I believe its in season 5 or 6.

Latest episode of Sleepy Hollow ... pen was a prominently featured plot device. Anyone got a close look?

Oh yes, at the last scenes, but I'm not such an expert to identify it.

Saw Robert Redford writing with a fountain pen that might have been a Parker Duofold in This Property is Condemned. The story takes place in 1930.

Seems like Robert has a thing for fountain pens... He gave a gold lever fill FP to Meryl Streep in "Out of Africa":

In another scene from "Out of Africa" a banker is seen using a FP while offering Meryl Streep a loan at a scandalous 3% interest:
