Also the recent movie Hitchcock shows the great director using a fountain pen in at least a couple of scenes. I'm no expert, but it looks like a Mont Blanc to me.

For anyone watching TV in the UK Dara O'Briain regularly uses a Fountain pen in his Mock the week TV show.

Whilst M in Dr No used a Parker 51, in Skyfall M (Dame Helen Mirren) seems to be using a Parker Vector, maybe a rollerball. I wonder what the new M (Ralph Fiennes) wil use ? The real head of MI 6 "C" (not M) used to use green ink, the only one in the agency allowed to. I wonder what colour M uses

It was Judy Dench, not Helen Mirren.

I came upon this note when reading the original Diamonds are Forever recently. I, too, wondered what shade of green the spymaster preferred. For some reason, I was trending towards Noodler's Green Marine, but that's just me - Montblanc Irish Green may indicate some divided loyalties :)

The original for this one had a horrible balance - this is the best I could do:

Saw one in the film Rush. Although I think there is a continuity error. At the start of the scene, Hunt is using a ball pen, which magically transforms into a fountain pen.

In the movie MacArthur, the Japanese surrender documents are signed with fountain pens.

General MacArthur gives the first 2 pens he signs with to Generals Percival (GB, Singapore surrender) and Wainwright (US, Philippines surrender), then uses I think his wife's pen for the last signature. I don't know what pen MacArthur actually used nor could I recognize the pen in the movie, I did not pay that much attention to the pen itself.

The British medical drama Holby City used a fountain pen in one of it's plots last week.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfBaqVTsnog

the pen is discussed around 19minutes 20seconds in until about 20minutes 30. I don't know if it is identifiable though or if what is sad about the pen matches what is seen (New York, 1922 - I think - and gold nib). Two of the doctors (regulars) appear to know pens.

Sadly the fountain pen doesn't survive the episode and it's sad fate is seen at 45minutes 26seconds (ish).

I would be curious as to what the pen is though and if the description / information given is correct.

The way I heard it, MacArthur's wife's pen used in the ceremony was a red Parker Duofold, c. late 1920s.

Man, I hope they didn't take a hammer to the pen shown intact in the earlier bit; its a Parker Duofold, It's from 1929-ish rather than 1922, and almost certainly has a 14K point rather than 18K-- one suspects that the writers have confabulated the start of Duofolds (pre- that particular plastic) and the current point material.

Yeah, that was actually a super bowl ad. If you search either this thread or the "penspotting" thread, I think that pen was identified.

I don't know if he was right, or if he'd been duped, but Ian Somerhalder once commented that in LOST (the pilot episode) the first pen his character (Boone) picks up is his (Ian's) own fountain pen. He only mentioned it because he was furious someone had put his previous pen in the sand, which I thought was sweet :) However, Boone has such a big handful of pens I couldn't see if any of them are FPS.

What a great piece of trivia. I am a huge fan of the show and never picked up on this. Thanks for the tidbit.

Don't know which one it is, though....

I have been very curious about this myself. Would love it if someone is able to identify it.

I was watching a repeat of the Star Trek Deep Space 9 last night and the character Captain Sisko's son was using a 24th Century fountain pen, surprised me.
