Has anyone done business with an ebay seller named : erfobay? If so, can you recommend them or not. They have one or two pens I am interested in. He/she has a large number of LE and WE Mont Blanc's for sale, as well as substantial positive feedback Hopefully the ebay links below will work for you.

from his customer's ratings and comments, i would say he is pretty good. 0 negatives in the past year and only 3 neutrals. But you already knew that... My rule of thumb is %98 and above is usually a good seller (if that rating is from selling and not buying, depending on how many auctions the seller has completed successfully)

Erfobay is a woman...Monica....good seller...all dealings with her in the past have been good in my experience, which covers a handful of vintage pens. She seems to have an endless supply of nice pens. Based in Italy per Ebay, but all my pens have been shipped from France. Every Sunday night..Ebay and erfobay...A little pricy ( or should I say she get gets good prices for her pens since they are auctions) and expensive shipping, but otherwise good experiences.

Yes, many times with mixed results. However it has all worked out in the end. She is a reasonable and polite person. Here is a previous thread with some experiences: link

Have had several dealings with her with mixed results. Sometimes pens have been as described, while others have had leaky sections and pistons or needed to have the sac replaced albeit being described as in "wonderful" condition. Now I assume that some work may have to be done her pens and bid accordingly. This saves me the aggravation of expecting a pen in working order and receiving one that needs some repair.

I believe Monica is an Italian living in France. ;) (Seriously.)

Two experiences here. One pen was a RB (not a MB); no problems there.

With the other pen (not a MB), I was unsure whether it was medium or senior size because the listed measurement was right in between. I asked and she said it appeared closer to a senior size -- and she's sold both versions of the pens in the past. It turned out to be medium; and though advertised as ready to write, it needed a new cork. I kept it anyway; the closing price was a fair for what it was and its condition.

Know your pens and study carefully her photos, which are almost always good ones. Quite often her descriptions are wrong (models, years, etc.). But I think she's better with MB compared to some other brands -- but maybe that's because I don't know so much about MB. ;) She uses "vintage" quite liberally.

I agree with ESOV. With (truly) vintage pens assume that they may need some work and bid accordingly.

bought a pen from her at a very good closing price and received it in less than a week! Other than that, I can't say much.

Hi,

erfobay sells some interesting pens, there are however some pens that ... well ... are not made by Montblanc but by someone else that has put several MB and other spareparts together. Just take a 136 P that she sold one for 3383.33 USD ! (But MB definitely never produced such pens).

See here for instance:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/153516-136-looks-suspicious/page__p__1527964__hl__erfobay__fromsearch__1#entry1527964

I therefore decided not to buy there...

there is a lot of mixed opinion.

be cautious.

you may find it difficult if you encounter problems to have them rectified.

she has good stock or rather a large amount of it

edit to add- the previous post should be read very seriously

Surely 100% feedback with over 5,000 unique ratings this is as good as you're gonna get on ebay. That and they don't come from some 3rd world country.

I'd definately use them if they had a pen I was interested in.

Actually, I would disagree. There are better sellers, but you have to know who's who. There are some sellers (professional and not) on ebay (as well as other places), who are often more forthcoming about the conditions of pens, restoration work done or needed, etc. in the descriptions, and don't make as many errors about the model, age, etc. of the pens. Quantity isn't same thing as quality.*

We all make mistakes, but it happens sufficiently enough -- at least with the pens I look at, which often aren't MB -- that I don't take her descriptions at face value. I work from the photos to figure out whether they match or not, or ask someone who knows the pen in question if it is what she says it is.

If you're going to buy from her and from (m)any other sellers, just try to be informed as you can.

*Oh, and those 5000+ feedback ratings, not all of those come from selling. ;)

Mixed feelings :headsmack: first five deals were great then the book of an Omas tauromaquia was not sent with the pen.One month later bought a PELIKAN Icarus and it was dipped and used not mint as described. The last experience had to wait one month after an ebay complaint because the pen was sent damaged. The other occasions I never complained because the price was great. You should be very carefull.

Hi,

I have done business with 'Erfobay' on eBay only once regarding a Pelikan 100 black ...nice pen

but it NEVER arrived despite a tracking number being sent that can only be tracked by the seller.

It is Monica who claims to be in Italy but actually lives in France.

I waited over a month and after no replies to three emails eventually logged a PayPal claim for

non-receipt of goods.

Then within a few hours my money was refunded by her stating 'she did not want any trouble'!

No apology at all from her...so really if you buy from eBay a high valued item maybe it's better

to have it sent courier post with insurance.

Well at least I got the money returned though I would have prefered the Pelikan that was sniped

for me.

Monica is a very nice person to deal with but lets herself down by giving very glowing summaries of pens regardless of their actual condition. I have bought a half dozen pens from her over the years and most had some issue. She did offer full refunds but my point to her was was that she really had to take more care with her descriptions as it was clearly a serial problem.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

my first impression was not so great. i had/have an item for sale and she tried to lo-ball me, just to flip it. i very much believe in first impressions and this one wasn't impressive. just my two farthings.

cheers,

Mixed results here too, but more positive than negative. I bought a "leather" MB pen case and it turned out not to be leather, but "fake" leather. It was a pretty good fake because I only discovered it wasn't leather when I took it to a top notch shoe repairman to get some cleaner and he took one look at it and said, "This isn't leather, ha ha!". Nevertheless, I like the case so much that I never bothered to contact her about it. Based on my previous dealings with her, I think she would have reacted appropriately. Bottom line: I would buy from Monica again.

This is what is so annoying about ebay.

We have listed here at least a dozen significant issues, if not more, in just a small sample.

I know from facts that people have rated the transactions as negative.

Yet somehow she still has 100% satisfaction rating.

This is quite misleading and no help at all for people trying to make decisions with confidence.

I was curious to know how long I'd had my A.Christie pen so I've just had a look back through my history ebay transactions. It turns out it was bought from this seller. I had no issues with this transaction.
