A little over a year old, but still fairly accurate.

Should try to incorporate journaling into my daily writing sessions again, if only to see what my handwriting practice has resulted in. Just one problem: my practice writing is much larger than my journal writing.

The first one is intentionally blurry. I want to convey what I like to see when I flip through my own notebooks:

The second photo is of notes I took at the San Jose Museum of Art, of the Mapplethorpe: Portraits exhibition. This photo shows my handwriting and should explain why I prefer F nibs (or Nakaya medium) (the notebook is narrow ruled):

Wow, I love your handwriting!

Sunsparkle,

your writing is amazing

wish I had as much patience to practice

mine is rather mundane compared to yours

I keep telling myself to practice... but I can't seem to find the time

the Élysée pen is not my favourite, much too thin, but it's a good one for travel purposes, very reliable

Wisteriax: This is great. Thank you for sharing it. I've seen many books on this style of journal and I have to say you've made it your own. This is original thinking.

I love this topic!

Most of my journals are more 'visual' than written but here's a recent one that incorporates some fp scrawling.

After reading so many threads and posts at FPN, I bought myself a fountain pen of my life. I am a proud owner of a Sheafer 300, but my handwriting is way too bad and have to improve by writing more and more with this pen.

I was so impressed by reading this thread that, I have started writing the English alphabets for practice. Actually, I've gone back to school days. Now, I feel a bit confident and will start writing a journal with my 300. Once I have something interesting written, shall share with you all.

For now, my alphabets on my daughter's notebook....

That's a wonderful beginning, saketb.

To get where I am today I sat for years many hours a week - getting a nice handwriting is much easier. : )

Go on with it, give it a bit of patience and you will be rewarded!

Here is a picture of the first page of the journal I have just started for my Grandson (if I post the pic correctly, that is!)

Pen is Tombow Object, ink is Diamine Jet Black.

Thanks sunsparkle....That is very nice of you to praise me...

Initially I felt hesitant to post such elementary practice but then I just did it.

I shall practice more & more and would try to get hold of something through lettering.

In my daily journal I write down the music I listen to at home. After visiting this thread, I realized that in three lines I used three different pens and three different inks as well as listened to three different pieces of music:

post-20437-0-39638600-1315343659.jpg

The first line is CdA Blue Night in an Omas Bibliotheque Nationale, firm, fine nib;

The second line is a mix of R&K black and royal blue in a Waterman Ideal, flexible, stub nib (with minimal pressure);

The third line is Montblanc Royal Blue in a Montblanc 146, 14k firm fine nib.

The journal is Clairefontaine Unplugged.

Thanks for a great thread!

ttakacs, that is a wonderful reason to write. I am finding different reasons to write with a fountain pen so that I can use it more often, and yours' goes to my prime list.

Thanks for such a beautiful idea for jotting down ones music liking.

After hours of practice in the last 10 days, I was able to write something nicely and legibly.

I just happened to hear this song from Bryan Adams - Please forgive me, and started to write the lyrics.

Used a Sheaffer 300 with Private Reserve "Orange Crush" ink.

Thank you Doug. I really feel flattered. :vbg:

There are other pages that are by far not that presentabile as I started it many years ago, when my writing was much worse and I less ideas where I wanted to go to.

So it will mainly be a nice book for ongoing practicing and trying ideas how to layout medieval style pages - about half of the book is still empty...

If you are interested though, I can scan a few of the older pages and post them here.

Cheers,
