Sealing Wax Seals

Recommended Posts

Handle ist from around 1900. New plate engraved and glued onto it so that it is removable without traces. Wax is Herbin's "cire souple verte", a nearly black green.

What type of glue did you use?

Two-component adhesive. With heat and patience it should be fully removable.

Thanks!

I don't expect any changes on the brass besides getting darker as it is normal. But Dexter can probably help you how to handle their signets.

I just ordered a couple from Amazon. You can get nice-looking ones pretty inexpensively if you like one of the patterns available. They seem to especially have a lot of ones for different seasons (holly and Christmas trees, Halloween-themed ones, spring and summer themes, etc), which is nice. A lot of seals are too formal and serious-looking for fun notes between friends, which is what I mostly write.

I picked up one from local Stationary Store. SInce me and Daughter will use it and we both Hike alot and love the outdoors we picked out a Leaf Stamp and some nice Green wax. Next time we make a seal i will get a picture of it. She has started writing letters to friends she met at camp this summer and enjoys the Fountain Pen for writing and the wax seal to make her letters unique.
