Queen Rena <--- I think I like that. :) That one is from Atelier Gargoyle, as is the one with crown and initial "R." Both are brass with wood handles.

If money were no object, I'd collect wax seals — modern and vintage. And I'd have a lot more sealing wax, including all colors that Goulet pens is now stocking in the pliable J. Herbin wax. Oh, and I'd have all the Atelier Gargoyle colors too. And I'd offer a huge sum of money to Edgar Allen Bo for both his nautical seals! ;)

The seal that is all metal is the one I've had the longest. I used it when I was a young girl in the 1960s!!! The soapstone seal is a chop, of course, but I use it with sealing wax. The vintage lion seal is made of bloodstone.

Mmmmmmmmmm....If money were no object........ :cloud9: I think as Queen you ought to be able to collect a tax for your Majesty's Royal Sealing Wax Seal.

Where did you find this? It has wonderful detail.

I got it from this guy on eBay: http://shop.ebay.de/parpile02/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25

I think he is making those seals, from time to time he offers one with that ship, or some other ships, skulls, etc...

Here is one with the same ship he sold few days ago: http://cgi.ebay.de/Segelschiff-Petschaft-Drehwurfel-Spiel-Messing-Maritim-/180536005885?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Antikspielzeug&hash=item2a08c8d4fd

Here is my newest acquisition from Dexter Seals I just received a few days ago. It is a pendant seal. It is solid 9k gold, and it is hand engraved with a larkspur blossom and a ladybird, and my monogramed initials in a script font. I'm afraid I got rather sloppy with trying to show the seal in use, I was having some issues but I couldn't walk a way right then, either. The seal really shows up better on red, but I didn't bring any red Atelier Gargoyle wax out with me, and I actually had to pry the J. Herbin traditional wax off the pendant (which broke the wax, of course). I'll stick to using AG wax for the times I decide to use the pendant as a seal. It's almost even too dainty for me to wear, but I really love it. All my Dexter seals can be found at this link.

Warning: Image heavy, please remove image links from replies/quotes.

Per usual, I'm starting off with the concept art provided to me by Dexter Seals for approval. And where is a BSB loaded pen when I need one? BSB is the only ink which writes well and dries fast on these glossy boxes.

Another exquisite Dexter seal, Kiavonne. Really, your seals are incredible!

Thanks, Rena. I very much like my Dexter seals. I like antique seals, too. Some of the intaglio seals are really, really nice, but I haven't acquired any antique seals, yet. I have about a dozen common letter seals or picture seals, as well. Edgar Alan Bo's ship seal is fantastic! The more detail in a seal, the more I like it.

This is my inherited Chinese gold dragon ring:

And although not a signet-ring...this is the impression that it leaves:

Although that is not a signet ring, Shangas, it looks pretty cool and leaves a nice impression. Very nice heirloom piece.

Yes it isn't a signet-ring, just a gold pinkie-ring. But you're right, it leaves a lovely impression and I think that, in lieu of me ever getting an actual signet-ring...this will suffice. The ring belonged to my late maternal grandmother, who gave it to my father, who gave it to me :)

That's the post I have been trying to find. Thanks Kiavonne. This is my favorite seal I have seen.

Now I am wondering if I could get a seal made from this photograph which is more detailed than it needs to be, but the Eagle is stationed in my city at the Coast Guard Academy, and I have a connection to her.

I know Dexter is the best, but I wonder how a rectangular 1" x 1.25" stamp would look. I saw this other place that makes custom seals from photos here: http://www.letterseals.com/custom-wax-seals.html which might be worth a try?

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Sam, that is a beautiful ship.

Either a round or an oval seal would work well for her. A round with something skyward and some clear waves/wake like Edgar Allan Bo's would be wonderful, but your ship will be smaller in contrast.

An oval will allow the ship in her full glory, with less attention to wake or skyline.

Letter Seals might be ok, though for myself I think I'd lean more to Nostalgic Impressions.

If you have a real deep connection to the ship and you want to remember her always in the best possible way, then certainly get a stamp from your maker of choice, but then save up for a Dexter. I have many seals, but my favorites are my custom Dexter seals and I have never regretted the prices I paid for them. I'm having to save again myself, as there are still three seals left in my personal series. Even if I don't complete the series due to costs or circumstances, my dream of my personal coat of arms is a reality and used quite often, and I still marvel over the stamp and its impeccable detail.
