What Color Are Your Fingers Today?

GouletPens

Recommended Posts

I got samples of De Atramentis Sherlock Holmes and Diamine Oxblood today, so I've got a bit of both on my fingers today. Some spots look dark purple where the ink stains overlap.

Maybe it's because I'm new to fountain pens, but I haven't managed to ink up a pen without staining my fingers. Then again, I kinda like having stained fingers!

Earlier today it was a bit of Noodler's El Lawrence, trying to get a Konrad started (and then later seeing if the pen was well and truly out of ink, or just being a bit cloggy -- I like the color, but the ink does have some nib creep issues).

Right now, it's Liberty's Elysium, trying to flush out a leaking Parker 51 :crybaby: before I go on vacation. When I get back, it's one of the pens that goes to DCSS with me, so I can look for advice and pricing on repairs.

I bought a few inks this week, because I only had about 30 bottles and you never know when the world may run out of ink. ;)

Today I have a touch of Pelikan Edelstein Topaz, a blob of Edelstein Sapphire and a strip of Adventurine which managed to cover the Mont Blanc Oyster Grey. Oh what fun! :D

I've been Bay State Blue'd... I absolutely love the color of this ink, but man it can find a crack or crevice like nobody's business. I had picked up a cheap Dollar Pen in demonstrator form solely for this ink. I made the mistake of throwing it in my pocket when I ran out to run some errends yesterday. No mess in my pocket but when I uncapped it there must have been a tiny crack around the section because it got all over my writing hand. As those of you familiar with this ink know, this is not an ink that comes off of ANYTHING easily. That pen got the circular file and I'm back in the hunt for a pen to devote solely to BSB. For now, I'll enjoy the questions and comments of people when they see my hand!

I always get a kick out of these "no affiliation" notations when it's blatantly obvious the poster has absolutely nothing to do with the brand, company, etc. beyond being a customer. "Are you bleeding?!"

"No, it's just Sailor Jentle Grenade."

....

"OMG! When did you get that bruise?"

"...that's Diamine Sargasso Sea."

For some reason, the inks that stain my fingers most always get misinterpreted as bodily injuries. =p

Noodler's Georgia Peach. I really need to give that pen a good cleaning before refilling it.

I'm writing an online serial thing. It's urban fantasy. And I have no idea how long it's going to run for.

Some brand of black and another of blue ink that I'm trying to clean out of 2 Pelikan tortoises that have been neglected by prior owners.

de Atramentis Gold Yellow

Actually, a brownish-yellow ink.

Not my idea of a summer color. Goes back in the cabinet and won't see daylight again until the leaves start turning. I may sign some Thanksgiving cards with it.

Diamine Orange

A very accurate ripe orange color when dry. And very bright, almost an in-your-face ink. I like the color better than Iroshizuku Fuyu-gaki (Winter Persimmon).

Diamine Scarlet

Depending upon the nib size, this could be called a fuchsia or a maybe a dark pink. Shading with a nib 1mm or wider. A very free-flowing ink which, nevertheless, dries in about eight seconds.

In fact, got some on my fingers but InkNix took care of it in short order.
