What Color Are Your Fingers Today?

GouletPens

Recommended Posts

Old (ca. 1990s) Lamy red, which looks amazingly like Mercurochrome, glowing orange-red. I was cleaning out the ink so as to have refillable cartridges for my new Al-Star. Any suggestions for getting the color out of my fingernails?

Yikes, I had that happen before when I was emptying out a pen, a drop got onto my fingernail and took literally a week to come out. I don't honestly know of a really good way to get it off.. I tried washing my hands countless times and it didn't really help.

Montblanc Toffee, which was also (temporarily) the color of my bathroom countertops, walls, and floor. I splattered it everywhere. Luckily it was an ink that cleans up relatively easily.

Oops! Haha my husband can't touch ink without instantly finding himself "adorned" by it. He makes me refill his Porsche pen.

Today my fingers are stained with Private Reserve Dakota Red, a tame color for me, but I felt like grading some papers. :P

For getting the ink out of your fingernails try straight bleach on a paper towel or dip a qtip in the bleach. Works well. Then wash your hands and put on moisturizer!

Thank you! I will give that a try, particularly the Qtip. Most of the orange had come out by yesterday, but there is still a hint in my cuticles. And definitely moisturizer.

Diamine Oxblood on the end of one fingernail, which has been there for MUCH longer than I would expect for a non-waterproof ink.

That was it, until my Cross Aventura drooled Diamine Midnight onto my finger a few minutes ago. Dang it. Thank goodness no non-FP user was around to gleefully point out, "See? I knew those outdated things were a messy hassle!"

I just tried using a insulin syringe in my Sailor Desk Pen. First I got ink all over while filling (pointing the nib up and trying to expel air, but you sometimes get ink instead), then I found out the seal between the syringe and cartridge receiver wasn't good enough (which got even more ink on me).

Now I have the syringe permanently glued in, and shouldn't have any more problems with leaking from that pen.

My fingers are green (Montblanc Racing Green, specifically) after doing a little tweaking to my OMAS Paragon while it was inked.
