Noodler’s Bay State Blue which, due to its vibrancy and staying power, I’m resigned to wearing for a few days. My pen was dry, so I made a slight turn of the converter. It was still dry and the pen was almost empty, so I I turned the end of the converter quite a bit further. Needless to say, I ended up with BSB all over my hands and my notebook. Thankfully my desk was spared, this time.

Various blues from some sample dipping last night -- really not sure how the ink jumps on to my fingers when I'm doing simple glass pen dipping, but it does. This morning I was doing some nib adjustment and now have a good deal of Iroshizuku Asa-gao in brilliant display on several digits.

Franklin-Christoph Black Cherry. I usually keep one pen/ink combo going for the whole year, and this year it looks like I will go with my Franklin-Christoph Model 02, with their Black Cherry ink. Tried to fill the pen this evening, and ended up inking my fingers in the process.

At least I didn't spill it anywhere else!

Kobe van Gogh Dark Green, refilling the cartridge with a syringe and, because it coats the inside so opaquely it's hard to see, I filled too much and it overflowed down my fingers.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

My ink syringe blurped, so I have spots of Iro Yama-Budo on my fingers and just finished scrubbing my counter to get rid of the smears.

I'll come up with something eventually.

I don't have any ink on my fingers today which is shocking because I cleaned 2 pens and inked 2 others. I *never* escape unscathed.

Earlier today it was a bit of Birmingham Schenley Park Thicket Green. The problem with filling pens from narrow-mouthed dark colored bottles is that it's sometimes a bit hard to see how far down in you've gotten the nib -- especially when it's a lever filler and is a very large pen (in this case a Sheaffer Balance Oversize), and I ended up with ink in the screw threads as well as on the section.

It could be worse, though. At least Schenley Park is a great color :D -- it's a very nice medium-dark green that doesn't lean teal but isn't too yellowish, either.

Visconti green. Surprisingly, I should also be covered with Private Reserve Black, since I was having trouble filling a lever-filler, but I dodged that bullet.

Okay, the world is back to normal. I was doing some color cards to document my inks and was anointed by Sargasso Sea and Red Dragon along with a hint of R & K Sepia.

I put 14 different dye powders in water today to kick off some ink making experiments. After a shower I cant see most of them anymore on my fingers. Naphthol Green, Methylene Blue, Gentian Violet, Fuschine, Bromophenol Blue, are the ones I most want to play with more, but there were others.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
