What Color Are Your Fingers Today?

Noodler's Heart of Darkness and Iroshihzuku Tsuki-yo (these were from trying to get the pens they're in started today).

Additionally, there are now some sort of crescent shaped marks on a couple of fingers from filling another pen from a sample vial of R&K Documentus Hellblau.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Diamine Red Dragon. Don't know whether the cartridge developed a crack or I overfilled the cartridge, I tried to top it off. The result was the most ink stained I have ever gotten. Red fingers, red thumbs, red hands, man, it looked like I had sliced an artery without the pumping effects. Moral is, don't try to top off the cartridges.

I just cleaned my pen and loaded it with Diamines Ancient Copper. I had this ink in my Metropolitan originally and I kinda liked it but I wasn't convinced. So I filled my Pilot Prera with the rest of the sample and I love it. In the Prera it is darker, I don't know why except that maybe the Prera is laying more ink down. I'm convinced now to get a bottle of this even if I'm just going to be using it in the Prera. My Pilot Elite 95S writes a little wetter even than my Prera, even though I never thought of the Metropolitan as being a dry writer. It will be interesting to see what the Elite does with this ink. This is the first time I've noticed a real difference between two pens with the same ink. Five months into the fountain pen habit and still loving it.

Yes – it's interesting how the various combinations of ink, pen, and paper can make so many completely different experiences. Enjoy noting what combinations lead to what behavior.

Sheaffer Skrip Blue. A little popped out of the pen on a flight, so I got a smidgen on my fingers when I wrote with it the next morning.

Extremely multi-coloured fingers! I've just finished re-sampling all my ink bottles by swabbing onto artists' tiles & storing the tiles in display albums. Just got the writing samples to do on each tile.

These will be stored in colour order, to complement my Mnemosyne swab cards, which are in manufacturer order. Yes, I have Inky OCD :-)

Inked up a new Jinhao X450, but I guess the converter isn't sealed properly....

Blue-black !

Darn Jinhao x450 converter leaks out of the tail end ! If anyone wonders, it is one of the risks of a 99¢ fountain. It is the first time this has happened in years. Not the end of the world. Going for the Clorox 50/50 solution.

Sailor Sei Boku. Got it on my fingers using the double fill method to get the very last bit of air out of my Pilot Custom 823.

My hands were all dark green, as I spilled some GvFC Moss Green on the desk and wanted to stop the wild torrent - in order to save my favourite carpet. I had a meeting and I didn't want to look like Shrek in a shade, so I used two-phase makeup remover (I use it to clean an inky washbasin as well), then some dishwasher liquid and finally a peeling shower gel. Worked like a dream, even though the ink is advertised as a document-proof one.

If you try to do the same (or similar) thing, don't forget to treat your hands with a fair amount of hand cream.

Did you save the carpet?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Did you save the carpet?

I did! It is not a very elegant carpet, but a very soft one. It reminds me of grasslands. It is made of silk and it was a real bargain - I know that I wouldn't be able to buy a new one of the same quality. You can check it out, Amber :)

EDIT: I know that the image is poorly 'gimped', but well, I had little time to spend on this one :)
