Well, it's mostly all washed off at this point, but Wednesday morning was the discovery that I have now flushed out so many pens the only ones that were not filled with highlighter ink had black ink them. And not being much of a black ink girl, I knew that had to change -- pronto -- or the universe would go all horribly pear-shaped.....

So a bunch of pens got filled. Mostly with permanent or semi-permanent inks, but a few others that were brighter and cheery spring-longing colors. So, in the space of about an hour I had most of the following on my hands (in little flecks and specks) because I filled a bunch of pens:

De Atramentis Permanent Red

Noodler's 54th Massachussetts, Liberty's Elysium and Shah Rose

Diamine Emerald

Akkerman #10 (the iron gall ink)

vintage Quink Violet

I had a dream last night where I noticed ink on my fingers. When I looked closer, blue ink was running down all over my hand like I'd squished a smurf. Weird thing to wake up to.

Back in the real world, NIghtshade. I pulled out one of the 51s on Wednesday to write something down & it just didn't want to start. I licked it & that got it going for about a sentence, but I didn't have time to be messing around, so I pulled out one of the other 51s & made a mental note to look into it later. Today, I undo the barrel &, of course, it's completely empty. :headsmack:

Waterman Green. There is something weird about that ink. I rarely get ink o my hands but I just have to look at a bottle or pen with Waterman Green in it and my hands turn green.

Aurora Black. Had a problem transferring from the bottle to a TWSBI inkwell. Most of it came off with soap and hot water.

Hmmm. R&K Alt Goldgrun, Iroshizuku Shin-kai and something pink which is either Yama-budo or R&K Solferino. Looking at the sticking power, I'm going with Solferino. Oh and some DeA Plum.

Yes, I'm doing re-inking and swabs today. How did you tell?

Diamine Blue Black, which actually looks sort of greenish to me.

Also, it smells like carrots.

R&K Alt-Goldgrun today.

An ink that needs a wide, wet and splattery springy nib to truly appreciate its beauty and shading, and not all of that ink goes onto the page.

Does colour the fingers an interesting greenish-yellow though.

On a related note, anyone else out there love that funky phenol smell that Sailor inks impart to your fingers? The one that lingers long after you wash off the ink.

Phenol is an anti-septic so, in addition to the flashbacks fond memories of art classes and childhood that it induces, I suppose it is also warding off infection.
