What Color Are Your Fingers Today?

IF it helps, I live across from a cemetery... not wait, that's not helpful.

:lticaptd:

Yeah, the shipping charges from the Northeast would be astronomical....

Seriously I really should pack it in for the night (assuming that the phone here does not ring any MORE times tonight...). I can only conjecture that someone was trying to contact them from overseas -- or it was a wrong number -- but three phone calls in the space of under 5 minutes at 1 AM is not what you want to be hearing after a long stressful day -- especially when the phone and answering machine are just on the other side of the living room....

A kind of greenish blue on my fingers due to a nib testing. I was looking at a pen I'm having an eye at ..... A wonderfull Delta Titanio Ti 22 with titanium nib. That nib attracted my fingers so much .....

My hands are permanently stained bay state blue because whatever it touches will always be that color. I have come to accept this which is why I have taken an ink swab down to my hardware store and plan on painting every wall in my house that blue. I will also be dying my carpets, my cat, all my counter tops, and everything I own baystate blue including myself. I realize that this will be a huge change in my life, I mean my cat's white right now, so its going to be really confusing to her; but it's either I take this step or stop using baystate blue.

I had a learning experience today while dipping a few new pens in ink. After trying out my lovely, new-to-me Sheaffer 100, winter plum, M nib, I noticed that my thumb was covered in ink, leaving a thumbprint in my notebook. Apparently the nib and feed sucked up enough ink from one dip into Noodlers Blue Black to leak out the back end and through the threads from the section and the body. My husband commented that it looks like I smashed my thumb with a hammer, only on the wrong side.

Apparently I cannot use this pen to test inks without putting on an empty cartridge (or just filling the cartridge).

I came home late last night from Thanksgiving travels and decided to transfer some of the Sailor SankoDo Nishikisan Black Purple that I had just received into a sample vial. Well when I went to fill my pen today I forgot that I had filled the vial with 5ml instead of the usual 2-3ml to avoid refilling after one use....

OOPS

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Believe it or not, Heart of Darkness.

Normally, that's not an ink to stick to fingers. But my work bud had filled the prescription bottle we use as a sample vial/dilution beaker right to the very top. I was not willing to fool with it at my desk. I wouldn't open it until I got it into the sink, and when I popped the lid off ... ugh. I wound up getting it all over my hands several times over.

I suggested that in the future, he not fill it more than half full. He agreed that so doing was probably a good idea.

Today it's Sheaffer Skrip Purple. I dropped the pen it was in (Sheaffer Snorkel Statesman) and the pen decided to sort of "fling" ink in the process. I also ended up with some on my leg.

Fortunately it seems to have been relegated to me, and not the bedding as well....

I've learned my lesson now -- there's no being lazy when it comes to ink maintenance haha And there's a reason why the Goulet and Anderson samples come between 2 and 3ml so I will not attempt anymore "double fills" to 5ml anytime soon!

I accidentally spilled a bit of Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue and it ended up getting on my fingers even with a towel right beside me...
