This brand does not appear to have a US distributor for if they had, I am sure there would be much greater interest in this MB-like offering.

I got my President for only $70.00 (new) BUT I didn't get all the cool packaging that you did. It is a monster pen that'll hold a half a bottle of ink per loading. Senator has had some great pens over the years including the President and the Regent (both piston fill).

Great review.Somnath... informative.

Hi Cuza,

Thanks! For $70, you got an IPG nib right?

I was busy chasing a Vintage pen, and The President slipped by me for € 75. That's the second time it slipped by me on German Ebay.

The cheap price listed at @ € must be for the steel one.

I saw listed wholesale, buy 5 for € 138 apiece two days ago.

That's € 655, and if you sold four for 167, you'd break even for a free pen. Counting Ebay fees, say 185.

Rapidly @ 200 becomes reasonable, for an 18 K nibbed pen.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Very nice review. I have this pen but with the steel nib. Not nearly the fancy packaging either. Found it on ebay for $100 shipped. As an aside, does anyone know if they 18k nib can be purchased separately??

pretty interesting review  thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Hi,

nice photos and a good review and the only review of this pen in this forum.

i would like to know:

is there any difference in the body (material, construction), cap, gold plating of SENATOR PRESIDENT FP with gold nib v/s SP FP with steel nib?

in other words, is the only difference between Senator President having a gold nib and that having a steel nib, - is the nib itself and nothing more?

please help

thanks..

Usually that's how it works. As far as I know, from every pen I've ever handled, or read about, the only difference in a pen with a gold or steel nib, is the gold or steel nib (and sometimes the feed to fit the nib) but nothing else. Well - maybe trim? But usually the basic material of the pen, plastic or whatever, will be the same, unless it's a custom pen (Edison etc) where you can order whatever you want.

Thanks for the review...and very good looking pen!!!!. I have a 'REGENT' model, and it's a very good everyday writer.

that's awesome and great price! where'd you get it?

Hi All

"So if 5 FPNers get together, they can get this pen at a much cheaper rate."

Hope this helps.

Best,

Somnath.

At $68 USD! I'll bite. Count me in. PM me when you're ready to order. BTW. I did PM you about 3 weeks ago about ordering the pen. Never did get a reply. However, if I'm incorrect; please forgive me.
