Stoffhass

I read somewhere about the Stoffhaas stores located in Hamburg in the early years of last century, which were the first fully-dedicated stores to Montblanc products. Furthermore there are some Montblanc pens and pencils with the imprint Stoffhaas. Any more information or images, please?

Here is some info:

When World War I came to an end, Simplo

established a marketing department headed up

by Grete Gross, whose genius propelled the

brand to international fame. In 1919 the company

opened boutiques called “Stoffhaas,” retailers

that exclusively sold Montblanc trademarked

products. These boutiques would soon

spread to London, Paris and Barcelona

Fountain Pen Hospital has a pen with the imprint Stoffhaas on sale right now in their vintage section.

The pens that were sold in the Stoffhaas stores used to have the "STOFFHAAS" imprint besides the Montblanc name and logo. I wonder what other products were sold in that stores, taking in consideration that they only sold Montblanc products. Any idea?

I have read that they had stories in Hamburg, Berlin and Leipzig and that they specialized in stationery.

For several years (before selling it) I had a plain black hard rubber #4 size button filler fountain pen. It had a rounded dome cap, typical curved 1930s German pocket clip in nickle-plated metal, and a 14K unadorned #4 nib. On the unbanded cap was the imprint "STOFFHAAS," in all capital letters. The pen was a sub-brand made for Montblanc and sold exclusively in the pen & stationary departments of Stoffhaas stores. I was told by Osman Sumer that Stoffhaas was a department store, and that Montblanc made pens exclusively for other large stores to sell as well. Rossler lists Stoffhaas as one of Montblanc's sub-brands.

I have a Montblanc 234 1/2 with the Stoffhaas name imprinted onto the cap opposite the Montblanc logo.
