After reading this rekindled thread, I went to a nearby MB boutique today, where they have this one... :puddle: :notworthy1:

It is an incredibly beautiful piece of work. I was a bit sceptical when I saw the pictures, but after seeing the actual pen, I am impressed. Considering the limitations (just a few centimeters of a cylindrical shape) within which a pen designer must express "tribute" or represent a specific theme, I think they did a stellar job - capturing some essentials of Gaudi's style in elegant simplicity.

I also had a look at the Axis Mundi, and I was equally impressed. The elements of the Taipei building's design were beautifully rendered in this design.

Give credit where it is due. Well done MB.

Damn. Now I can't sleep. Maybe.....well......watch this space...

Like the mosaic star as well, but suspect if the planet tilted on its axis and I obtained one that the ring right above the threads would be where my fingers would land.

Were you by any chance in Zurich? That's where I saw the Gaudi, and they, too, had a Taipei 101 (as well as a Bizmark which I had never seen before)...

Too many pens; too little writing.

As has been alluded to: they nailed gaudy, but missed Gaudi.

"When Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick; and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

~ Benjamin Franklin

Nope, it was here in SA. Did see them on display in Zürich a few weeks back, but did not look at them then. Should never have... :headsmack:  :puddle:

absolutely not a fan of this pen

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

  • 3 years later...

I recently visited Barcelona, Spain. Home central for all things Gaudi. Loved his architecture, especially the Sagrada Familia church.

To me the design connection to Gaudi's style is quite slim indeed. I just don't see it at all
