Few things that turned me on here:

1. Lacquer finish.

2. Dwi-tone nib

Thank you for the fine review for such a fine pen! This has increased my interest in Dupont pens...

Life is like Chinatown signage, its cluttering, confusing but everything that you need is there, just have to look harder....

ST Dupont nibs are lovely, they start right away. As soon the nib touches the paper, the ink flows. Can't say that about Montblanc...

So many times i had to send my Montblanc to the Repair Centre to get it tuned. Not with Dupont! Well, not yet!

Hello ... Just looking for some advice on purchasing an Olympio XL

This will be a gift for my father, he does have a Defi that he uses occasionally.

I know he would prefer a Bigger pen and I was leaning towards an MB Boheme or the Olympio XL.

With the Olympio I would be looking towards a black lacquer with a palladium finish.

I would appreciate any feedback on where to purchase and what price range I would be looking at.

I am not looking for any diamond inlays or anything like that just a standard version.

Also just a quick thought as well... the Bond Dupont is that an Olympio as well?

Cheers & Thanks for all the valuable input in this forum

Since the Olympio series is no longer being made, ebay is your best bet. Or check the sales boards here, they pop up occasionally. The Bond Dupont is an Olympio, yes.

In my experience most Dupont nibs I've tried, except the EF nib, have needed adjustments to write well. (I have tried up to five separate nib units so far, ranging from EF to M to Stub.) So factor the cost of a nib-tuning into your purchase.

Beautiful pen indeed always loved Dupont pens and am tossing up between this or the Elysee series (Blue colour)

Just one question here, in terms of size how does this compare to the Elysee.

Thanks

Exactly what has happened to me.

I came across the Elysee line and now I am questioning if I should pursue an Olympio purchase Or just go to a local dealer and get an Elysee.

I would appreciate some feedback as well from our Dupont aficionados ...if someone should be leaning towards one line or the other.

I found some sizing comparables as well.

Elysee is around 14.5 cm capped & 12.5 cm uncapped ..whereas a large Olympio is 14.1 cm capped and 12.8 cm uncapped.

I don't know what the Olympio Xl would be ?

Also about pricing ...I would appreciate some help in what is considered a fair price or even a fantastic price

Stylo.ca http://www.stylo.ca/en/pages/home/index.html

has some price reductions and I was also looking at the Dupont, S.T. Fountain pen, Elysée series Blue PGT 410679

for $670 CDN . ....I would like to know if this is considered a quick BUY ME IMMEDIATELY price.

Cheers and Thanks

Alex

Jar,

I'm like you, all of my Duponts are older models. All of my Orpheos and my Fidelios have the black square on the clip, and they all have resin sections. I wonder if there is a correlation? Black square on clip, black section; all metal clip, metal section? Just a wild guess based on totally inadequate data, perhaps someone can prove it false and I can stop wondering.

IIRC there are three different 007 editions.

Is this the Black an Palladium Olympio you were thinking about? There were several versions of that as well.

I don't think so. I have ones with squares on the clip and metal sections. I think it is more a running design change when the moved the stylized "D" to the top of the pen.

I would appreciate your input regarding purchasing an Olympio XL just like the pictured one you posted

OR going for an Elysee Duotone(black lacquer/palladium) ?

Also can you please tell me what are the dimensions for the Olympio XL capped and uncapped in cm?

I posted some measurements in message 15 IIRC.

I have no experience with the Elysee line so can't help there. I have reviewed most of the earlier ST Dupont models including the large and xl olympio and they are in the reviews section.
