Best writing nib?

Waterman Charleston (M) was a perfectly smooth writer (I had to sell it unfortunatelly),

Waterman Phileas (M),

Parker 45 (M),

all Pelikans

and one of my first FPs I got from my parents as a school boy - a Centropen which I still remember and can't find a match for it - maybe because it is only a fiction in my memories.

Guys, what exactly is a flexi nib? Does it add a little more flourish to your writing?

I once had a vintage pen, I simply remember it had the lever pump system, it drank more ink than my printer, and it was awful - scratchy, bit the paper, resisted anything beyond a really slow speed, and eventually it snapped off. I suspect it was just too old.

I'm more of a modern pen fan - but I'm new to this game. I like pens that are really understated, or are "artistically plain" like the Kaweco AL Raw, but... What should I use for getting that spring and flourish to my writing?

Don't forget the flexi nib thing!

My favorite nib varies enormously, but I'm liking a Waterman medium New York nib - neither too wet or too dry and easy to make pretty lines with it.

If we're talking about something you can find without a great deal of trouble, Sailor makes some very nice ones but a Pilot Prera 1.0 makes a really nice line.

Whoa, this is a revived thread from a long time ago; it's interesting to see these come up again, and sometimes in a fountain pen forum like this, I find it helpful. That said, personally, for me it has been my Sailor fine nibs; they've consistently been the best fine nibs I've used, but they're followed closely by Pilot and then by Omas. That said, I don't know if the Omas nib counted because it's not quite as fine as the Sailor or Pilot fines.
