What Waterman pens do you own?

Onion

Recommended Posts

A new-to-me Expert was delivered yesterday. I think it's my third (fourth?) Waterman.

Back in the day I rec'd an Expert ballpoint as a high school graduation gift. I still have it and love it. Don't know why it took me so long to pick up a matching FP.

My fingers are always inky and I'm always looking for something new.  Interested in trading?  Contact me!

I've since added an Ideal 88 with a lovely semi flex nib.

And now a piano laquer Maestro with a medium nib.

Up to 6 now.

An Exclusive or Executive next, or maybe a Blue marble Laureat, or a Bordeaux Maestro or....

What is that pretty pen??

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Thank you, force. The seller identified it only as a "Waterman school pen". It is fitted with "a superb 23K gold-plated nib" in a fine point that feels reasonably smooth and I have, of course, filled it Bleu Pervenche.

I've added a couple since I posted in April. The entire line-up:

Reflex set (FP & RB)

Expert set (FP & BP)

Charleston

Carene

Preface

Leman set (FP & RB)

Hemisphere

All but the Carene (amber) and the Charleston (ivory) are classic black beauties.

I still want an Ivory Charleston, one day, and a Yellow, too. (not actively seeking, though)

I love the Charleston.

Having added another couple, my little family is now up to eight.

88 Ideal black/chrome (semi flex)

C/F brushed steel gt (semi flex)

Supermaster Gunmetal gt (med)

Laureat mk1 black gt (med)

Laureat mk1 silver guilloche (fine)

Laureat mk11 red/blk marble (med)

Maestro black laque gt (med)

Centurion green/grey gt marble (med)

I just love them all.

As a bit of an 80s throwback there's no surprise that I'm attracted (unwittingly) to pens from around that era.

In saying that, I love the earlier French Watermans too, and, the later Watermans, and I do like the more recent Watermans...In fact I think it might just be Watermans.

  • 1 month later...

Re-awakening this thread surprised me when I saw that I had mentioned four Watermans above with a slightly jokey comment about "starting to get serious". Ah, the good old days, or naivety of youth, or some such.

My Waterman list now comprises these twelve (photos another time):

Exception Ideal black

Expert II

Edson, in emerald

Man 100 Opera, pre-1990

Man 100 Opera, circa 1997 (globe nib)

3 x Man 100 Patricians, in red, green and blue

32 in plain black celluloid

52, red hard rubber

52, gold-filled (0552)

52 1/2V, black hard rubber

Of the more modern eight pens, F and M nibs are four each. The older four ( the x2 pens) have fine but somewhat flexy nibs. I would say I am especially in love with using the Man 100s except I would not be parted from most of the others, either. Right now, the 32 (2A nib), 52 RHR and 52 1/2V are inked and all a pleasure to use.

At the moment I am still establishing my Onoto collection so the Waterman side is likely to remain quiet unless I see some good opportunity, most probably adding to the x2 or Man 100 sets rather than expanding into new areas (or adding Edsons).
