What Waterman pens do you own?

I just added to my eyedropper collection with a #13. It has a silver band and a non-Waterman clip, but the nib is flexy! Will see what comes in the mail next week.

Two with barrels fried while starting the resac. Nevermore. I am done with trying to resac these dudes.

I don't need those pens any more. I think I will go as far back with Waterman as the Laureat.

Hmmm, you have bought yourself a very expensive Forum. These are the cheap end Waterman pens from the 70/80's which normally sell for abiut $15 to $20.

...sigh....live and learn. Thanks.

Just arrived today! (And I apologize for the poor quality of the photos.)

I think it's a 52-1/2. I looked on Richard Binder's page, and I believe I have it correct.

Could anyone tell me about the date range for these pens? I would appreciate any information on the history of this lovely pen! Thanks!

I think it's a 52-1/2. Hard rubber, black with chasing.

Still curious about the approximate dates for this pen. Could anyone out there point me in the right direction for information on the history of this model?

There are some great reference books that go into all the iterations of Watermans from this period. Also, try googling "Waterman 52 1/2 production years" and see what pops up.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a shot.

PS (next day)

Just for other people who might want to know, this is what I gleaned from the different websites: the hard rubber 52s and 52-1/2s date from around 1917 ("late teens") when the new numbering system went into place (with "5" meaning lever filler, and "2" for the size of nib). The rubber line was slowly replaced by durable and attractive celuloid or lucite plastics (the "marbled" versions appear around 1926). Richard Binder does say that Waterman was slow to eliminate the hard rubber line, and it was produced into the 1930s. So with that in mind, I assume that the 52 line was probably produced between around 1917 and 1935 or so. If anyone has better information, please correct me!

I was so happy with the vintage Waterman 52 that I got several weeks ago, that I couldn't resist another! Something about those soft flexy nibs that really give your writing wings, right?

I haven't seen the gold band around the barrel before on other pens. It really dresses up an otherwise rather plain looking pen, doesn't it?

Pen: Waterman 52, black rubber, chased, with gold ring

Ink: Private Reserve Blue Suede

Paper: Miguel Rius spiral notebook

My wife recently attended a conference in Montréal and while shopping/sightseeing in her free time she happened upon a Stylo boutique. I've ordered from their online site before so she recognized the name. A gentleman showed her around and answered dozens of her questions before she settled on buying me a birthday present. The Caréne in Marine Amber is a beautiful pen and has one of the smoothest nibs I have ever used. She also picked up a bottle of Graf von Faber-Castell Garnet Red, which is a delicious shade of red.

Just acquired a Carène Deluxe, fine nib, in a trade. I need to fully ink it up, but I really like the build quality and how it wrote dipped.

Only negative? Cleaning the pen makes me think Parker 51s and are easier to deal with.

If you want to take them apart: yes, that is best left to the pros, or some semi-pros like Force.....
