Better have a few bob saved, I think it was only the nib wanted here.

I just acquired an Expert II fountain pen that I won on Ebay. I have an Expert II ball point and wanted the matching fountain pen. It came with a cartridge of blue-black ink that originally came with the pen and that is what I am using. I love this pen! It lays down the ink so smoothly that I find myself just writing doggerel just because it feels so good! Am I just nuts? Anyway, it is the only Waterman fountain pen I own and it rivals my Montblanc 149 as far as the pleasure it gives me. I did own an Edson, but it seemed to dry up a lot and was just not as fun to use. I sold it and sort of regret that I did not have some nib work done. Oh well...

Just added a Canadian #94 Blue/Green HR Ripple fp/pencil set to the collection. The fp has a pretty sweet semi-flex Canadian made #4 nib.

That's a very nice box in very nice condition.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider fountain pen, red version. I think I might narrow my use of Waterman to the Tomb Raider pens. Blue one coming.

I have:

1 black Phileas

1 black lacquer Expert

2 Laureat (marble green and dark red-burgundy)

1 deep mineral green Carene

1 black Plaque

I love them all! The Expert is my first Waterman, probably 20 years old by now, and I just re-inked it after a few years of non-use with Diamine Majestic Blue (currently my favorite ink). It is smoother than I remember it, and I am enjoying it quite a bit. I find the Laureats to be smooth writers as well, but if I neglect writing with them for a few days, it can be hard to get them started again.

My Watermans are among my favorite pens.

Cross: two Townsend Medalists (red marbled, chrome); Montblanc: two 22's and one Noblesse (brushed steel), Parker: Sonnet, Place Vendome, Silky black Latitude; Waterman: two Laureats (black/red brindled, green marbled), two Phileas (black lacquer), Expert II (black lacquer)

Waterman Plaque??? That's a new one to me. Do you have pictures?

Edit: perhaps you have a Waterman DG (directeur General) Plaque ORG? Where Plaque means plated, gold plated pen....

My most precious Waterman is this #55 - my great uncle Sylvester J. C. Hulse used it every day in his jewelry shop. The chasing has worn off the barrel.

What a lovely pen. It has ofcourse been well used, as can be seen, but that adds to it's charm

I hope it still functions well.

It still functions, but the lever box is broken. To fill it I take the section and sac out and squeeze the sac in my fingers.

Putting a new lever/box in is a fairly inexpensive repair and there a numerous repairers here in the US that will do the work. The Fountain Pen Recycler in Crystal, MN has done this for several of my vintage Watermans, bringing them back to life!

I don't have any repairers near me & I was quoted near $200 for a repair- $125 for the part & the rest for labor & postage.

Oh dear! Did you get that quote from The Fountain Pen Recycler? Maybe the lever box you need are scarce or very difficult to install. Mine was done this January on a English made Waterman 512 and was a fraction of that cost. I didn't want an exact replacement lever box, just one that fit and worked. All my pens (except my Waterman Gentlemans) are user grade or utility pens, and I bought them to use, not to invest and resell some day. Maybe that makes a difference in the cost. Good luck!
