What Waterman pens do you own?

Onion

Recommended Posts

I Just posted a black one with a gold nib but the same as this. I haven't been able to identify.post-33195-0-83659500-1345116575.jpg

Thought I had already posted this. I have only one from my grandfather. The nib is unusual, it does not look very classic and the nib design is not common. I have been unable to identify it, anybody has information about this model?

These are C/F pens, a special size cartridge /converter. The converters can be ordered from selected sources. Prices are steep, though. The cartridges can sometimes be found on the Bay NOS, but with very old ink. You can use them to refill, though. No new cartridges produced any more, sofar.

They were a good pen in their days. Quite a few came into Australia from people holidaying in Noumea. I had a .925 silver model purchased new for years "Crocodile" I think was the pattern but only used South Sea Blue ink in it, never a cartridge, although two were supplied with it . I swapped it for a watch. Years later I saw a gold plated one in a charity shop, but I could not get any cartridges or a converter. I even contacted the French Trade Commissioner out here. So I left it. If a converter can be obtained they are a good writer, mine was anyway.

I currently own 1 Waterman, an Expert II fp in Oriental Red that I bought about 9 years ago, when they still were covered by a lifetime warranty (remember those, seems like they're a dying breed) :crybaby:

Hi, I did a little modification and used a cartridge I had. Inked it up and I am very pleasantly surprised how great this pen writes! Being a flex nib writer mostly, I am still impressed with firm nibs pens that write smoothly and this pen is as smooth as silk. Love it!

The Gold 0552 1/2 and hard rubber 52 1/2 write beautifully. They are flexible nib. The Waterman's C/F writes amazingly smooth. The Phileas is a good writer for a modern pen. I can't say that I am disappointed with any of them.

Only one at the moment, though it does get a lot of mileage as my everyday writer. The hemisphere is dependable and always starts on the first try. My favorite combo=Hemisphere+Parker Quink-gotta love the pen

I have a lot of the modern steel nibs. For cheap pens I like the Forum and Pro Graduate. I also particularly like my Hemisphere with an 18k nib. My favorite of the modern gold nib is a stubbed broad nib Gentleman, though I don't have either a Liason or Man 200.

Since I've been predominately writing with split clip Waterman's I've become surprisingly fond of fine nib slender pens such as the Exclusive or CF.

The Gentleman has a lovely nib , mine has a M nib and it is smooth. I have had years of service with mine. It is a good sized workhorse.

Watermans you say? In that case;

A rather beaten Gentleman in Green Laquer. This was given to me as a gift in 1983 and has been more or less constant use since.

A more recent addition was a Charleston, in Chrome Trim, that I purchased in Office Depot in 2003 for I think $60(ish).

Love them both, although I think they both need a good soaking in something strong.

Two years ago, a friend gave me my first Waterman fountain pen. It came in

a fitted steel box, that opened to reveal a chrome-trimmed pen, decorated in

red and black flame. She called it "Harley Davidson Flame". It is a fine-

writing cartridge pen shaped like a Phileas. I like it a lot.

Last year, there were rumors, via FPN, that Waterman Phileas would be discontinued.

I got two at the $25 list price before the inflation. Like them, too. I think

one more might be good balance. An Hemisphere, perhaps. Then, I can stop.

Beautiful vintage pens ! Please. Nothing stronger than 5% ammonia / water solution.

Gentle patience is better than harshness. Rinse thoroughly after. I am not a pen

expert. I am an expert coward.

Reminder: ammonia and clorine mixture produces lethal fumes.

If they have not been cleaned all that time then it's about time.

Generally speaking it is a good idea to rinse a pen ever now and then. There is some discussion on how often..

If you take a pen out of roatation for longer time cleaning is wise. If it is in constant use, without changing of ink colors then I would say about 4 times a year would be nice.

Thanks for the advice...I soaked them both in water for the weekend following the advice here on the board, then flushed. I was suprised at what was coming out of the pens...

Anyway, I did order a bottle of pen-flush fluid from Goulet, I will give them a flush with that before returning them to service.

Thanks again and I am always learning here...

Hello to the Waterman freaks (as I am...),

collecting Waterman since about 22 years, my stock has grown up to 250 pens or so. It was more than 400 but I sold the cheaper models and only kept Expert and higher. I specialized for the modern Waterman, starting with the CF.

Here i will show you the Man 200 that takes a large place in my collection.

Have fun with the pictures.....

Kind regards,

Volker

Wow, Nathalie,

nice collection of Man 200 and Man100 esp the Patrician Codex Red :puddle: that I have never seen before.

I am looking for the Limited Edition Blue France World Cup 1998, maybe one day he will find the way to Germany. And if money doesn't matter, I will get the Man 100 Etoile some day :happyberet:

Your website is very nice too ! Love it.

Kind regards,

Volker

Viele Danke Volker.

I'm still missing few Man 100 for that "my happiness is complete." I feel it will be very hard to find a Vermeil "Specimen". With patience, anything is possible :D

I just got a Man 100 originally black lacquered by a French artisan and designer pen (about 30 layers of lacquer, Japanese method), a marvel.
