Ok Bryant I'm sorry. Now I have everybody drooling over your MOP 149.. I am so very sorry (but to be fair - it is a very droolworthy pen!)

Patience is a virtue when waiting for the right pen... although I do just always seem to miss them

WOW! Bryant:

Which 149 is that? I thought the only standard looking MB with MOP snowcap were the 75th anniversarys, which model 149 is that you have?

My guess is that this was a standard 149 and the artisan responsible, stripped the pen and replated all metal parts with rhodium, then did a very sweet job of replacing the resin(plastic) snowcap with a mother of pearl snowcap. I bet the mystery artist made it himself. Fine work.

All of the Anniversary 149s that I have seen have a special engraved gold ring on the endcap that is set with a diamond.

Well Bry I know where to get it plated, but where the * did you get the MOP cap?

The pen was sold to me with the MOP star on it... It was sold as a "prototype", but most likely is was scraps from a 75 anny.

+1. Now that you've tempted us ...

Now question number two is ... will you sell that pen to one of us? public/style_emoticons/default/eureka.gif

That is a big negative :) Next to a 139 with MOP star and sterling trim, this is an MB grail for me.

Pretty close... The pen was considered a "prototype", then I put my choice of nib and got it plated.

Cheers!
