Trademark no. 08396, Morse Bros., "Black Lead or Plumbago", June 21, 1881, used since 1865, is for the word "Sun" and an image of a rising sun. Trademark no. 08397, Morse Bros., "Black Lead or Plumbago", June 21, 1881, used since 1865, is for the word "Rising" and an image of a rising sun. Trademark no. 09208, Eagle Pencil Co., "Lead-Pencils", Mar 21, 1882, used since 1869, is for the word "Sun" and an image of a rising sun. Trademark no. 09337, George A. Ogle, "Pen-Holders and Pens", May 2, 1882, used since Mar 3, 1882, is for the words "The Century Pen" inside an image of a radiating sun, purchased by William Fink Palmer of the Parker Pen Co., used by Century Pen Co. till the 1930s. I told Dave Johannsen about this one years ago, and he promised to get a copy of the trademark image for me, see L&P Topic 1467, and Topic 252, but I had to wait until I discovered the TDR portlet online to get a copy. Shame on you, Dave. ;~) Trademark no. 29054, George A. Alden & Co., "India-Rubber, Gutta-Percha, &c.", Oct 27, 1896, used since Sept 3, 1896, is for the words "Sun Brand" and an image of the sun. Trademark no. 44920, Eagle Pencil Co., "Lead-Pencils", Aug 1, 1905, used since 1869, is for the word "Sun" and an image of the sun. Trademark no. 51014, Century Inkstand Co., "Inkstands", Apr 3, 1906, used since 1893, is for the word "Century", the one in L&P Topic 1581. There's one more Century Pen Co. trademark for the words "The Century Pen" inside another image of the sun with radiating rays all around, but I'm going to let you discover it on your own. ;~)
