Nice additions... love the bridge, and thanks, now I am craving coffee, hold the worms...

If you think everything is going well... you obviously have no idea what is really going on!

I love all of these! Here are a couple of doodles... I do start sketching general shapes with pencil, as I am not so brave... but I'm working up to pure-fountain-pen.

Self-portrait of sorts.

Not a self-portrait. :P It's an interpretation of Gavroche from Victor Hugo's Les Miserables.

I liked your self portrait, especially it being off-center and with the head cocked. And the drawing of Gavroche is very much what I have in my mind from reading the book, forlorn, wise beyond his years, with a little spark inside. Great work!

Thanks! I'm a fan of white space. I think my only real issue I have with drawing Gavroche is that he's never really that still in the book.

Very nice drawings Dot,thanks for sharing them. The boy from les misrables is sensitive & very accomplished. Isn't the fountain pen the most lovely tool to draw with.

Exceptional artworks everyone. Mattias rules for sure. I loved the Vienna interpretation very much. It's the most beloved European city of mine. ;)

And my humble contribution. Hopefully, you will give me the courage to keep posting... Here we go:

I had my Noodler's flex pen and brush pen out today while "working" and doodled a Babe Ruth sketch...

Edited to add that this was with the second generation ebonite feed. There is a difference from the first feeds, at least when used for drawing.

Some fantastic work by all! I love quick sketching, but haven't done much with a fp. I am new to them, but am wondering what pens/nibs are good for moleskine paper and someone used to pencil sketching. Inexpensive is also a major factor.

-Xander

Ok, so I just grabbed my Sheaffer No Nonsense and did a quick little fox abstract, with the italic bold nib for scale. Figured I should atleast use what I have and say I have done it...

Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

Here is the first spread in my new blank webnotebook. It is the result of random doodling over the past week or so when I needed a brake from studying for exams.

The ink is noodler's blue nose bear and bulletproof black.

The pen is a namiki falcon <sf>.

The bird detail was done with an unknown Parker pen, and brushed over with a calligraphy brush. First time I've touched the brush in a LOOOONNNNGGG time. Royally destroyed the main bamboo trunk :bonk:

Comments, please? :)

Edit: Ink was Skrip Black.

Thanks for looking :D

I like that one it's vary simplistic and balanced, good composition with the rule of thirds and all that going on.

As for improving, beyond the trunk that you already pointed out, you could give it one or two more passes just to increase the contrast a little more by darkening up the deepest shadow areas. This would also help even up the contrast throughout the image since the bird details are already fairly dark where you used the FP. You could probably use your same pen to boost contrast in other areas if the brush doesn't have enough saturation. Essentially I feel like it needs a levels adjustment if you are a photoshop user / photography nut like I am :D.

I tend to like things with a little more contrast, but some don't, so feel free to take my comments with a grain of salt.

Thanks a bunch! I agree, the contrast's not big enough. Got bored with grinding the inkstone and my scanner decided to have a joke at my expense. :headsmack:
