Thank you!

I like it, it looks like watercolor pencils, like science icons.

I gave up on the Inktober challenge this year, I'm not feeling inspired.

As opposed to me, who just completely forgot about Inktober until a couple of days ago....  Too much "stürm und drang" in my life at the moment.  I did do it once a few years ago, but the last few years too much else was going on in my life.

Ditto for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) -- I tried that once a few years ago, and the first few days was doing pretty well -- even with the Ohio Pen Show happening at the beginning of it.  But then, well, the rest of November happened....  I do much better with NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month) because I'm not having to figure out carving time out of my day to write ~1700 words.... :glare:

Ironically, a friend reposted a meme on FB this morning from about 8 years ago about writing haiku (the meme was images from an old Monty Python sketch).  So I wrote a haiku.  Admittedly, I find it hard to be as mimimalizing as haiku tends to be as a form (I much prefer tanka, which have those extra two final 7 syllable lines, and find that the 5-7-5-7-7 format makes for great stanzas in longer poems).

The one on the right is a vintage Universal Uniflow --- got it from Redeempens (aka: @penwash) last year. It is quite a lovely pen, both to look at and to write with.

What have you done with the cat? It looks half dead.

Thank you, cool pen! I have a similar in design pen, only in blue and made in Europe(Germany) with an early Bock nib.

Thanks, but it was difficult. The nib turned out very wet, it is difficult to make thin lines on shading. It needs to be corrected a little.

I didn't see it until you mentioned it, but the fine lines are prominent. At the San Francisco Pen Show, a young woman was ahead of me in line to have Mike Masayama work on her pens. She was going to have him make her a needlepoint. She works as an illustrator and said that a needlepoint is essential for her work. I now understand what she meant. I like the drawing, part of the pretty woman series.

I understand her very well. Until I myself learned how to make the nibs which I want, I looked anywhere for rare Saibi-Togi or UEF Platinum)).

But I don't like the needlepoint, because it's unpleasant to draw/write with them, then 0.05 liners are better. The most comfortable are UEF 0.15-0.2, especially with a dry flow - at the same time is thin and pleasant to work.

ps:  I wanted to try to make a “rough sketch”. I really like the minimalism style, but unfortunately I can’t learn it yet. I said to me “do not use the back side of the nib” when drawing, but I couldn’t, so, it turned out as usual)).

Actually, she was asking for a needlepoint that wasn't too scratchy. She and Mike went back and forth several times until it was just right. She let me try it; it wrote a very fine line, but was pleasant to use.

Then she simply did not fully understand what she was asking (or wanting). I know what is a 0.1 mm needlepoint is(less is just impossible) - it physically cannot write smoothly, because it is like on dip nib. But 0.15-0.25mm can be smooth and write thinly, but an ordinary eye without a magnifying glass it is very difficult to distinguish where 0.15 and where 0.2mm :)) I named these nibs as UEF.

Or I may have misunderstood her wishes; Mike Masayama was able to modify her pen to fit her desires.

This is the best comparison of nib sizes I'm aware of:

https://www.nibs.com/content/nib-tipping-sizes

To obtain these numbers, he measured the nibs with a micrometer.

Yeah)), agree, I also use this table, but from my own experience I can say that the Platinum UEFs I had never had 0.1mm, better about 0.2mm. I haven't tried Saibi-Togi, but I read somewhere that with regular use, they quickly become thicker than before, and firstly they write quite scratchy/crispy.
