Ooh, haven't been here in awhile and some amazing art has been posted! :notworthy1: Wow, Pickwick!

TMLee, thanks for the lettering/coloring sample. Lately I've been working on other things so I haven't drawn much. Still working on the line drawings. Nothing too impressive so far. I'll have to work my way back to coloring soon!

I see from kiavonne's link that the artist's ability far outweighs the tools used. Just amazing colored pencil work there.

Did someone ask how they get so good? The same way you get to Carnegie Hall: practice, practice, practice! :roflmho: Am I dating myself here? :headsmack:

Thanks again all for the great advice and beautiful artwork. Keep it coming!

You are such an inspiration, Mattias.

Completely agree. Absolutely awesome work, Mattias.

I've been wanting to post something in this topic for ages, and I've finally gotten around to doodling with my FP.

Project for my cartoonist business card. Pilot Elite Pocket pen with hooded flex GP nib (got from the Sales forum here), Jinhao 9009 with calligraphy nib for the lettering. Platinum Carbon Black as standard load for both. Cheap notebook paper used for sketches.

Done with Pilot G2 pens (0.38 and 0.5). Not quite up to using an FP yet :P I don't even own a bottle of black ink.

It lost a lot of quality in translation- strangely enough the end product looks much better, the blacks more intense, after the actual original has been photocopied (all settings to maximum darkening) and then heat laminated. Something about the entire process seems to concentrate the contrasts... anyway, forgive the shoddiness.

I've been inspired by others on this thread, and am hoping to draw more often with my pens.

This one was done with my Namiki Falcon ef, and Noodler's Bulletproof Black. Then watercolors on top. I am working in an exacompta sketchbook now, which is great for pen & ink. The watercolors made the page curl a lot so I dried it with a heat gun, then flattened it under a weight overnight.

p.s. thanks to Mattias for inspiration and for some very sound advice :happyberet:

ahhhhh, Mattias, I LOVE your work!

I have a question: how is the watercolour added without smudging the extra ink on the page? (e.g. w/ Noodler's, if there's a bit of extra ink that doesn't react with the cellulose etc).

Osmiroid Sketchpen + Pelikan Brilliant Black + A4 copier paper ... done years ago ...

What a great artwork!

Most musicians should put this on their CD jacket :-)

Happy penmanship~♡

Not if you let it dry for 24hours, thanks
