Wow! and with my favorite, the Vanishing Point! Though I think a UEF would be too fine for me.

Thanks. A lot depends on the ink, those are more liquid give a thicker line than those who are most oiled. For me "too fine" never will not be:))

Your artwork is a great celebration of Ukraine's fallen heros.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Thank you!

Hello everybody! Today’s post is not about war or loss, though a little about war. The topic of stamps does not let me go, and here, by the way, our Ukrposhta announced a competition for a new stamp, so I decided to try “why not” :)). After the furor of the stamp about “famous ship”, the theme of the current contest “Good evening, we are from Ukraine!” because it has already become like a trend on the Internet. I’ve already drawn a couple of stamp sketches, well, it was an attempt to say “away from home”, but now I near with my usual tools.

Very interesting!  What do you win if they pick your design?  Other (of course) than bragging rights?

Back when I was in college I had a graphic design class project where we had to design a stamp (in that case the theme was Humphrey Bogart), and I chose what I thought was the most iconic Bogie image I could think of -- from the movie Casablanca.  It was an interesting project.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Oh, a stamp. Nice. Good luck in the competition. 👍

A tractor pulling away a tank would also be appropriate. Probably one of the most creative tank battles in history. 🤔

That's fabulous!  When I was a little, there was a competition by the post office for something.  I am not an artist and was not very good at drawing even relative to my classmates, but somehow the stamp I designed won and got through a number of levels of the competition. My mother had it framed and still has it hanging up.

Needless to say, your entry is orders of magnitude more impressive.  Good luck!

@inkstainedruth I don't know, but if I win, I will have the feeling that I have done something useful for the benefit of society.

@Astronymus Thanks. Yeah. That tractor is cool))

@essayfaire @Catpaws Very very thanks!

Thanks!  Great review, great drawing as usual.  Trying to wrap my brain around the nib that doesn't have a breather hole and how the physics of that works.

Thank you! The breathing hole is one of the channels through which air moves to ink reservoire for compensate pressure discharge due to the fact that ink is consumed. So if there is no hole in the nib, it must be somewhere in another place, it is on the outside of the feed. This is not a unique solution, I recently reviewed a Porsche Design by Pelikan with exactly the same solution.

Pasha Lee is a Ukrainian actor of theater and cinema, dubbing, singer, composer and hero. On March 6, he died of gunshot wound during the evacuation of children from burning house in Irpin. The soldiers took off their bulletproof vests and covered the children with bullets from the russian occupiers, Pasha covered by bulletproof vest the child he was carrying. All 9 children were saved!

What confuses me is how the ink leaves the nib (opening up space behind) which then gets filled from further behind.  Should I be thinking of this like the water cycle?
