 great catch and thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Just to share: Hari, sent me one of this pen with M nib along with a Pelikan M800. I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of Senetor. Steel nib with ebonite feed lays down excellent M-F wet lines. Excellent pen at excellent price!

Thank you Hari for introducing this excellent pen!

Abhik.

pengallery used to sell the Senator President. I have not checked to see if they still have them. I think they were around $150. They could probably give you a price quote on one.

Ah, cool... I saw that one at the university pen & paper store few weeks ago and was wondering what it was because I never saw it before... I think it's selling for around 40 Euros.

:yikes: maybe you should grab it. Too bad it is very expensive here...

I was thinking about that, but the nib is probably M - nothing for me! And that's a VERY big pen, I had troubles with the M800 size, despite my long fingers.

Anyone still interested in this pen?

I just found a place locally that I can order the Senator President pens with a two-tone 18k nib.

I may try to put together a larger group order, still waiting on some price quotes. The more ordered, the better deal I can get.

It is someone local to me who is doing this as a favor, but I will ask him if he wants his name shared. :)

Nice pen with wonderful pictures! I especially love the way the light gleams off that ink bottle in the pictures. puddle.gif

Need a pen repaired or a nib re-ground? I'd love to help you out.

Is the offer still on? The images are really tempting.

There wasn't much response so the idea has been put on the back burner for a while. :)

Check out the thread in the MB forum - distribution and sales of the Senator President are forbidden, depending on the outcome of legal action. How this pen, with its very limited availability, was ever seen as a threat to MB is quite beyond me... :gaah:

They are priced just the same as Mont Blanc, only you get 20 of the Senator Presidents for that price.

I've got 5 Senator President FPs. My first was a gift from a U.S. colonel stationed in Germany, who gave it to me (with box and all) when my wife and I visited him and his wife in Arizona for their daughter's wedding, about 15 years ago. The others I purchased from a German seller a couple of years later at 70 Euros each. Each had the standard SS nib in medium. A good writer, this pen.

I happened to have several plain-Jane # 6 Schmidt 14K flexible gold nibs (some M and some Stub), and I replaced all but one of the SS nibs with the 14K nibs. Wow, what an even greater pen the Senator President became. As I recall, the nib and section pull out; there isn't a screw-type nib unit. I have noticed that there is an 18K nib option with this pen, and I have no idea myself how that nib writes.

On Ebay, the Senator President with the 18K nib goes for a premium, but still multiples less than the MB 149 (of which I have two). For the price, the Senator President with 18K nib is by far a better value than the MB 149, and in performance both pens are about the same -- quite good.
