Black Giant Photo Thread - Show us your Parker Giants

Rick Krantz suggested a photo thread of Parker Black Giants, so I thought I would start one up. Here's mine, along with my Thompson Red Giant. I've also added a copy of a Black Giant magazine ad from 1920, and a Pen World photo of a Black Giant Trench Pen, and a photo of a Black Giant box that I got from some source that I don't remember now. Please add your Giants.

Well, let's see if my first attempt with Photobucket works. If so, here's a photo that somewhat puts a Parker Black Giant in perspective. Don't harp about the picture quality, I just shot it under a desk lamp at 640x480.

OK, tried putting photo in post reply a couple different ways. There's a response that says I'm not allowed to use said 'image extension' (I think) on this board. It's just an image in Photobucket; what am I doing wrong?

Only question I have on Josephls' photo... Is than an 1903 or 1908 Pocket Hammerless above the pen?... the .32acp vs the .380acp makes a world of difference in the size of the pistol and as a result the size of the pen.

Either way, I want both. :puddle:

Great! You've picked up the picture and it looks OK. I'll remember the right click for future attempts. I thought it would be interesting to contrast the Giant with a pistol. If you run out of bullets, you could always the the Giant to club someone into submission. Thanks

Okay, so my Giant is a late production pen, has the lucky curve with the insert section, and I beleive, at some point, they stopped marking the caps 'Parker Black Giant" mine is also a short model. I currently have red ink in it, as seen in the pictures. Literally, I just got home from work, wiped the pen and nib off, and snapped a few quick pictures. This baby gets used. It has never been reblackened, it is all natural color. Worst part of the pen, is the cap top, which, I would love to find one that would better match the rest of the pen in regards to condition. I really like writing with it, and, I want to find that second one, a regular sized Giant. I consider myself lucky to find the short model first, I figured it would be far more difficult to find. Here are the pictures, Thanks John, for getting this thread rolling.

You have a great pen Rick. It has two very important things going for it:

1. It's a short model, which is harder to find than a long model.

2. The imprint is excellent! Giants are notorius for weak and worn imprints, and yours is extremely strong.

My BG also has an unmarked cap, which I agree with you is a sign of later production.

Man, those things are monsters, but you guys will not be successful! No matter how tempted, I will not start chasing after BGs.

Oh, what the heck :puddle: :puddle: :puddle: :puddle: :puddle: :puddle: :puddle:

so many pens, so little time.......

Here is my black giant along with a couple of relatives. The pictures are not the best, but I am traveling today and these are off my photobucket album.

yeah, the Dunn sorta wins hands down. They are just way toooo big. I had opportunity to handle, all the same day I purchased my BG, a Dunn, and a 20, like the photo. My buddy bought the 20, and the Dunn went to Philly, and got sold. but WOW!
