Does Anyone Have the Dolce Vita Oro?

CRB

Recommended Posts

I keep hoping to read something about an owner's experience with the Delta Dolce Vita Oro. Maybe it's not that different from the regular Dolce Vita to most people. I have read the DV reviews. But I'm really liking the looks of the Oro, and thinking about getting the oversize model. There isn't a vendor nor a pen show near me, so that I could hold it in hand.

I'm also interested in people's experiences with Delta's nibs.

Cheers,

Joe

I've seen it first hand -- it's beautiful! I've owned the regular Dolce Vita OS and medium (C/C), and now have Bryant's newest LE based on the Oro piston filler. The nibs are nice ... generally wet and a bit wide-running. Flex is hit or miss. The piston mechanism is first class and holds tons of ink. Fit and finish on all models are impeccable. If you like the looks of the Oro, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with your purchase.

I was able to view several of the models at the Chicago Pen Show. The orange is really stunning and is what attracted me to Delta in the first place. The Dolce Vita Piston Filler is the perfect size for me, I actually bought the Turchese Meraviglia Statuffo (the turquiose piston filler) from Bryant at the show. The oversize is just a bit too big for me but it is a stunning pen! The nib on the oversize is the same size as on a 149 whereas the nib on the piston fillers is a bit smaller.

As far as nibs and how they write, well, the one I bought from Bryant is the only one I've ever delt with. It did have to be adjusted slightly to get it to write perfectly but the flow was untouched as it was perfect right out of the box, for me anyway. I don't think you'd be disappointed with any of the Oro's.

Let us know what you decide on.

Thank you, offbase and dannzeman, for sharing your experiences. The orange is what attracted me, too; and there wasn't quite enough mass of it on the Dolce Vita to get me going. The larger nib on the Oversize is calling to me, with the piston filler just behind.

I'll be glad to share a picture of the one I get, and some impressions.

How nice to have a commuinity like this.

I have a Dolce Vita O/S and I love it. I am also considering an O/S Oro. Can anyone provide a photo or two comparing the O/S DV and Oro - color, nib size, etc.?

I plan on posting pictures in the FS forum later today... I also have some "oros" in silver trim, I think they turned out nice.

And just to add, the nibs on the Turchese are 18k, not the normal 14k on the Oro piston. I went with the 18k because you can do more than just the fine, medium and broad. But the Medium still has an 18k nib as well as the OS.

Cheers!

The all-orange Oro is too orange for me, but it does look better with the silver trim!

I received my Dolce Vita Oro oversize yesterday. It is, quite simply, a beauty. The large yellow 18K 'Millenium' nib has a Fine point. It's smooth, has perfect flow, and produces beautiful script. I filled it with PR Naples Blue, which is fabulous with the brilliant orange marbled resin. I've never held a pen of this size before, so it's a little bit like writing with a scepter; but I'm readily adapting to it.

To me there's no such thing as "too much orange". The regular Dolce Vita always seemed like half of a beautiful pen, so I was sooo glad Delta made the Oro. The vermeil trim gives a warmth to the piece. Silver would also be beautiful, and a different look. For this resin, I like the way the gold tone works.

Here are a few pictures.

Thanks for all the input.

Cheers,
