My God.............. I'm simply astonished, the details in the decoration are spectacular!!!

You make me desire a similar pen!

Now I'll have to sell one of my organs (maybe a kidney?) at the black market in order to earn enough money for a pen like that!! :D

Nothing new to add. Just more admiration (adoration?) for your pen. It is lovely, and I am sure it is moreso in person.

Congratulations. I had my eyes set on this stunning piece all this while but the price tag is just too exorbitant for me. Enjoy this pen's beauty in good health.

This is a beautiful looking pen.

Silly question though. What is the filling mechanism?

The above is MY opinion. Would you expect it to be from someone else?

Thanks all for the additional nice comments. This pen is still as captivating today as it was when I first got it. I have noticed that it doesn't do nearly as well in low lighting; it pretty much demands sunlight or intense spotlighting to really come alive.

Silly question though. What is the filling mechanism?

It is a button fill. No blind cap-- you unscrew the section to reveal what looks like a converter, but it is permanently attached to the section and has a button rather than twist.

How does the nib perform?

After an additional half year of using the pen I have a few more observations about the writing performance. The nib is still very much in the butter-smooth family-- not my favorite since I prefer a touch of feedback-- but most impressive considering that it achieves this smoothness without being overly wet (a la many of our Visconti's, for example).

Overall, though, I've moved my assessment of the pen as a writer from Tier 1 down to Tier 1.5 because it often needs a bit of work to get started if left to sit for longer than a week or two. Somehow the Tier 1 writers (like the MB 146, the Nakayas, and most of the MB Writer Editions) will always start up flawlessly even after 4 to 6 weeks unused.

I am a latecomer to this thread, but I too have to say you did a wonderful job of capturing this beautiful work of art in your pictures! Truly enjoyable to look at!...

I am lucky to get the kingfisher in Maruzen Tokyo today. The kingfisher expresses patience and presicion which means yin and yong. In yukari royale series, this is second to Peacock I think. Mine has "G201" under signature. I do not know what it means.

Before I took the kingfisher home it had been exposed under strong light for a period of time, the urushi faded on the front side.

This is a truly beautiful pen. I have seen it advertised online, but it is great to see it here reviewed so well.

I hope you enjoy the pen over many years.
