That is amazing... Saying that, I have seen 139s for as low as 2200 for ones (Not looking like this), but I have seen some decent examples, actually just at the last couple of shows I have been to for about 2500-3k.

I think though, if the pen looked like this, it would be worth the extra cash, this example is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing those pics!

Wow... that is a beautiful pen!

--- a collector's item and it appears to be in mint condition.

Thank you Eric for your response to my question. I get why this 139 is highly desirable.

Regarding karmakoda's 139, would this be a celluloid captop?

If so, wouldn't this then be a case of a later cap on an earlier barrel?

This is not a rhetorical question. I can't really tell.

Just want to add that there's a new posting of L139G on the Fleabay for $2690 here.

Btw, I'm not associated with the seller in anyway. Just found it while perusing the fleabay. :)

Yes, a remarkable 139, but I'm not sure if everyone, back then, understood it was not actually my pen, only photos I had saved of what still is my Grail Writing Instrument. :headsmack: Sigh....

Perhaps italicizing the word "my" and saying, "I wish" did not fully convey my jest.

Lovely pen, and many thanks to the actual owner for allowing me to use the photos. He made a discreet reply to the discussion, back in 2010.

Hi guys,

I seen this topic only today,

also my Montblanc L139G have "MONTBLANC - MASTERPIECE" engraved on the center cap band.

I have 2 Montblanc 149 from 50s engraved "MASTERPIECE" but appears slightly different that engraving on my L139G.

Greetings from Roma.

Luigi

Beautiful pens. Both of my L139's have "Meisterstuck" on the gold band. Your L139 was probably an export model. Hopefully one of our MB experts will explain the differences.

Matt? Where does this fall into the 139 question? The Schiller is a nice pen, but does not compare to a MB139L.

Montblanc Schiller Fountain Pen. Mint, medium nib. The box has issues and is falling apart. If you dont open and close it multiple times a day, it should be fine, but besides that, the pen is great! LE number 6694. $795

This is one of the pens BRYANT has just offered in the market place. The Schiller is a wonderful pen. There are many wonderful MB pieces to be had for under a thousand.

Matt

You are absolutely right to ask this question.

I was merely stating a personal preference.

I'd want one too... or more accurately, I *do* want one but it's not on the horizon for me to have.

Why don't we approach MB about a special FPN LE 139 pen, (at special discount price....) just for us MBsters here?

Wouldn't that be fun!

I will have one with a correct triple flex fine nib at Columbus. PM me if you want to meet and try it.
